Hi

We were away Christmas and New Year and had two days of very heavy rain, we noticed water dripping from a internal roof moulding. We have found the cause of the problem, the external joining strip on the roof

What is the best way to dry all this out internal????

Not sure if heat, dehumidifier or both

Cheers

Hi Ya,
OH DEAR !.
Try removing any Roof vents or create an Opening or two in the roof Lining, Anything to inprove Air flow.
Then
Create Air flow !. A De humidifier is great if you can rig one up for a bit.

For my money a dehumidifier and very gentle heat. It is important you don't attempt to dry to quickly that can cause more issues.

Assuming you can have mains electricity, then a dehumifier is the best way.

Google "Meaco DD8LJ 8 Litre Junior Desiccant Dehumidifier "

This is the one we have.

To explain, you need a desiccant dehumidifier, NOT a compressor one. The Meaco one takes a gallon or so a day from our definitely not damp house. Takes 2 ltrs a day from the MH, also not damp. A compressor one really only works at high temps and high humidity like in the tropics. Desiccant is much happier at our lower temps.

From a house point of view, we only use ours Oct to Mar, they cost more or less nothing to run as you get all the energy back as heat, circa 300w in our case.

In a MH for long term as I suspect you'll need, it comes with a continuous drain hose. You could sit it on the table or worktop and put the hose through into the sink drain.

Highly recommended, one of the best things we have bought. I add I have NOTHING to do with Meaco!
