ADAC IS still available for NEW UK members
Just been through this for a friend, many folks saying that new UK members are not able to join.
Not sure where this came from, but if you go to the ADAC website, you can use the on-line application form to join up, no problems.
Application ADAC Plus membership
don't know why people try to discourage joining ADAC for UK residents.
ADAC offer Worldwide breakdown coverage and All Europe recovery / repatriation for around £75 (UKP) pa.
NO UK provider can get anywhere near the service/price options that are provided by ADAC.
Most importantly, the MEMBER is covered, not the vehicle, so if you are a passenger and you have your card with you when the vehicle needs assistance, your friend is covered by your card.

The existence of a web application form doesn't mean you will be accepted for membership outside Germany.
On other threads there is correspondence and details of phone calls to ADAC confirming that they will not accept new membership from other than German residents.
