Belgium - Netherlands - Germany

It depends on how far you get into Germany - there appears to be a nice circular route; Belgium, Germany and back through The Netherlands. or vice-versa.

The German Border (Grenzmuseum Schifflergrund), near Asbach-Sickenberg, is facinating. When we visited in 2016 we stopped overnight close by (51.28171, 10.02742) but I think you may be able to overnight in the museum car park.

I've spent a lot of time, for work, in the Bad Neuenahr / Ahrweiler area including a night in the van up in the hills in the vineyards (50.53606, 7.07647).

Like many we have only ever passed through Belgium on our way to or back from somewhere. Our daughter and family started their 130 night, 6,000 mile tour of 10 countries in Belgium. They recommend the area around Dinant in the Ardenne. A couple of places they visited; Citadelle de Dinant and Vêves Castle. They are rock climbers and found some good climbing around Durnal. On the way there they visited Plantentuin Meise.

One of the places we did stay was Thieu back in 2013, (50.47124, 4.08826). There is the heritage Lift No. 4 Old Canal Du Center boat lift close by and if you walk east along the canal there is the modern Strépy-Thieu Boat Lift

Yay! Tunnel booked for the night of the 24th of April. Out of the tunnel, turn left, breakfast in Belgium maybe.

We visit the Ardennes most times we go to France but never yet the Belgian part. We were going to stay there last year or the year before, a recommendation from a Belgian guy we met at a cafe alongside the Meuse. Unfortunately it was an aire that you needed to add on all sorts of costs with the company running it for a first time booking. I got so stressed at ending up with over a €60 spend for a single night we gave up and went elsewhere.

We've stayed in Belgium and Germany before although nowhere near as much as France. I'm looking forward to exploring a bit of The Netherlands.
I shall be on the lookout for Wully.

And dogs difficult in Holland. We found some campsites and Aires limited the number of dogs to 2, 1 or none at all. Walking off lead places are hard to find. Priority always to bikes.
Belgium much easier all round.
