When we started it rarely happened, then maybe 3-4 years ago once or so a week, then more often, but this last trip it was almost every night and more than once sometimes.

Why??? what do they get out of it??? it doesn't really bother me but it might be the start of something more sinister against wild campers.

There's plenty of anti-whatever constantly and deliberately stirred up by the media and politicians, so it's quite possible Kev.

Specially as it's a lot more expensive (and difficult) these days to travel to the Costas for the annual p*ss up! 😉 :ROFLMAO:🤪

Politics of envy at work maybe? It's everywhere else these days... 🤷‍♀️

It happens a lot in the UK. Very rarely seen it happen in mainland Europe. I hardly wild camp here now apart from up in Scotland and then Im usually hidden away on an island somewhere. There is no respect for motorhomers here and of course many have a NIMBY and envious attitude. In France motorhomers are valued and generally respected.

France is a much bigger and very rural country too, Barry, which definitely helps!

For some folk it's now more difficult economically and also border-wise to hop over to the EU on cheap and easy package holidays. They'll now be off the menu for many who were used to doing this every year, so more than likely envious and/or NIMBY.

I'm not sure cheap holidays are that easy to find in the UK anymore though also. Michelle was watching some program or other the other day and she reckoned a holiday rental flat in Scarborough of all places was £285 a night or something like that. Those glamping pods which seem all the rage which is basically a hut with shared facilities are like £150 a night. I can remember when you could get a five star top hotel in Edinburgh or London for less than that.

Liz is off on another cruise at the end of April for two weeks so they must still be fairly reasonable or she couldn't do it, I might bugger off in the van but I'm not keen on the lonesome blues all by my own with nobody with me.

One tip for avoiding the morons when wilding is get off the beaten track. Ill never stop anywhere near a main road, a fast road or any kind of car park that might attract boy racers. The rougher and smaller the better. Usually many miles from a town also.

To answer you question, they do it for a laugh and and /or becaue they don't give a sh.. for you or anyone else. The same reason they throw their fast food takeaway packaging out of the window or trash park benches or indeed anything that takes their fanc. There are unthinking morons out there, always have been and always will be.

Count yer sell lucky they are beepers and not Flashers !

If you park next to a road you’re always going to get it. As Barry says get off the beaten track away from the road side.
My son and his girlfriend just booked a Caribbean cruise and I was very surprised how inexpensive it was. Not my cup of tea though give me a misty damp cold Scottish Loch side any day🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Remember as a child knocking on doors and running away well it’s just the grown up version from grownups that haven’t really grown up. 😂
We used to put a dog turd in a news paper light it then chap the door and run to safe hiding place then watch the occupants put it out by stamping on it. 😂

Have you seen some of the POIs on the WC app, they are virtually on the bloody road.

We did the same til last year, I might go back to just driving and looking.

Is there a way to get Google street view up on a phone I wonder, as that was one of the reasons to use the WC app although not all POIs give you the option.

I thought that the fast food trash was there to warn wild campers that this place is infested by nocturnal morons and thumpers. An indication that you should stop somewhere else.

Only experienced it once in anger and that was in Scotland 🤬

We spent the night at the Muloch Bay parking area well off the road on the A832 that runs from the Tore roundabout to the C&CC site at Rosemarkie.

Every bloody vehicle that passed blasted it`s horn then i started taking notice and realised that they were all fairly new 4X4`s with towbars then it clicked, it was the tuggers from the damned C&CC site.

I know this because there was a couple of very identifiable 4X4`s that did it and when we went down to the site there there were as large as life pitched.

I wanted to go in and have it out with them but my wife stopped me.
