We picked up our Berlingo this week and I am over the moon with it. Once my exams are over with I plan to take myself off for two nights. I removed the seats and cant believe the space :D it will be more the enough for just me. I don't want to complicate things as mainly it will be our main family car ...so I am looking to just being able to carry things in and out easily with crates that can double up as a single bed, or failing that getting one of those chair beds that fold out, although it wont have the obvious comforts of our lovely van I am sure I can cope for a couple of nights
If anyone has any good ideas on making a temporary but COMFORTABLE bed please let me know.....:D

Have a look at the Carp fishermens beds Jac. Go Outdoors sell them and there ere many on Ebay and Amazon.

They are very comfortable and much better quality than standard bedchairs. I had one until fairly recently, but the Mice decided to shred it for me!

Thanks rob will have a look ....
Just been on eBay and found my a bargain cool box :)
Now a small camping stove and I will be good to go 👍

yes those fisherman beds in GoOutdoors look so comfortable i'd advise taking a pillow, a small fleecy blanket and an alarm clock- the sales people don't mind

Very true Nigel (ya sarcy git!). You can even buy Bivvy slippers now!

But they are VERY comfortable, if a bit pricey.

i was serious ! i walked past a load of fishermen the other day,all sleeping like babies and i was almost tempted to take up the 'sport '!

I've fished all of my life Nigel. You can't beat sleeping in a Bivvy, getting up to a BBQ breakfast and a few tinnies with your mates.

Unfortunately, every now and again, the fish disturb you, but I can live with that.

i'd have to be building something while impatiently waiting for a bite, and probably get angry at the fish for taking so long

 Welcome to the world of Berlingo ownership, when you say you have removed the seats I presume that you have the car version rather than a van? What year is it?
If you surf the 'net there are quite a few posts on turning Berlingos into stealth campers, but from experience I would suggest that they are definitely single birth unless you are very small or very tolerant.
If you have the 1.6hdi version you need to make yourself familiar with the (preventable) oil contamination issues these can suffer from.
I have a van version where the front passenger seat folds flat, I have made a removable plywood platform at wheel-arch height in the load area, this is a few inches lower than the height of the folded seat back. I use a 5'2" kids inflatable air bed and put my feet on the folded seat back, the most comfortable "camping" experience I have had. I have a blackout curtain behind the front seat and just poke my legs underneath, so I don't get woken with the 4:30am sunrise. Have fun.

Thanks all :)
Cant wait to give it a go and there will be no excuse for me not to go on the girly meets now

Try out one of those new microwave beds,,,,,,,,, you get 8 hours sleep in 3 minutes.

Hi there,
Some pictures of a temporary conversion that I did to my Skoda Roomster a few years back; your Berlingo has more internal room than the Roomster.

Front passenger seat removed and replaced with a bit of ¾" plywood supported on some slotted angle, this was my bed, covered with the cushions from the sofa at home. Sufficient room left to pack the other stuff needed.

Curtain supported on curtain wire run from the rear grab handles and around the sun visors.
Rear windows blanked off with cardboard panels painted to match the car's colour.

Had a wonderful carefree holiday in sunny Sweden, using both campsites (for amenities) and assorted woods, quarries, car parks.

Regards,
Martlet.
