Had a look at the motorhomes on british car auctions website British Car Auctions
Some great vans inc nearly new low mileage.
I take it this is where motorhome dealers sell and buy a lot of their stock. Would love to know what they go for. Does anyone have any experience of buying a motorhome at auction.
I've bought a few cars from the car auctions before as a private buyer. Great bargains to be had and never had any problems with them.

There is some really nice vans there would be interesting to know what they go for..!!

When Ron and I were looking we went to Measham - you can look round the vans but the prices did not seem that cheap apart from the really big motorhomes
and there are no guarantees, you buy one day and fetch it the next :hammer:

Somebody posted on a forum a few years back that many went very cheaply at the Auction he attended.

There was some rubbish but also some excellent vans.

The dealer we bought from told us about a van they could only shift through the auction because it was red. Factory issue and all that. I'd have loved it. Asked them at the show "don't you have any red ones? "

I think the majority are " Ex Hire / Rental " vans and have probably had a very hard life.

I'd expect the mileage and interior condition to be good pointers as to whether a van has been used for hire.

We have bought high mileage company cars from auction in the past & had some good bargains. At least you know they have been properly serviced & fixed as the companies cannot afford for them to be out of commission long. If the price is low enough to cover any possible faults - could be a good bargain with reduced depreciation too.

auctions in a lot of cases no longer work out that much cheaper , they are also very clicky and groups of traders bid up the vans between them and if they are careful you the buyer will end up with a higher bill to pay , I worked the auctions on and off up to about 12 years ago , if a van is being bid on but it comes back through later its normally someone winding the bid up and they did not get a high enough price , I used to stand under the auctioneer to see how many people were biding , sometimes there were none but the auctioneer would act as if there were , if your buying a commercial vehicle remember there's VAT on top of the price and when you have decided how high to bid don't go over it , be very careful .
