2003 Hymer B644 2.8 jtd - I have an 80ah gel battery installed - what can I safely upgrade that to without having to do any serious alterations - just like to drop in a replacement. Can I add another battery or two bigger batteries, or even go lithium?

All advice appreciated :)

Thanks

Add bigger batts and wire like this.

my hymer b544 has two 125A batteries measure the size of available space, or you can always extend the linking cables if you have available space

It might help if you said what your requirements are that you need bigger or more batteries. Rather than folk second guessing what you need. And it might not be that big a job. Hopefully the usual troops will be along to help you and Trev is one of them. Thanks Trev for your reply 👏

To be honest, I have absolutely no idea what it is I really need or want. I've not spent a single night in a motorhome yet, it's still parked at the top of the road. This time now is my opportunity to spend some money on it and get it ready for full-time living. I have until late July to get everything ready, then I will finish work and my small income will be for living only.

I don't mind if I go slightly overboard now, getting more than I really need, but I certainly don't want to not get enough and struggle later. I've never done anything like this before, so this is an exciting challenge for me and my wife, and our plan is not to go holidaying at campsites etc, we would like to almost disappear for a while, peace and quiet is the order of the day.

The wiring diagram is good - and looks simple enough to follow.
Where do I find the details of my onboard charger, and will adding solar panels affect this.

Is cost an issue or weight or space , the weight and size of , lithiam is a big plus 100 amp about 13 klg ,equivalent lead acid would be 2x 100amp 50 klg , check out alpha batterys for Information , you could post a photo 0f you electrics for advice from knowledgeable members ,lithium is the way to go for fulltimers

If you will not go to hookups on camp sites the issue is will you drive every day. If you want to stay local then solar becomes more important.
Do you have a compressor fridge? That is our biggest electric use.

Thanks all for the replies. I've been feverishly reading all I can. The electric consumption link was useful, ran through quite a few configurations and it has at least given me an idea. I do spend a lot of time reading the older posts here and elsewhere, so it may seem like I'm not active but I appreciate the help you all offer.

Thanks
Colin
