yanno lads and lasses i luv da banter but am finding it a bit of a nuisance reading through a thread with an interesting question to find it taken over by 'off subject' banter. one or two remarks is ok but page after page is a real pain.move your banter elsewhere plz or pm each other!!!!!! it seems every thread is becoming overtaken by wanton banter.

the point of this forum is to hopefully share information and learn.

Irrespective of right or wrong in my vitrolics with AJ I did open a seperate thread and made reference on the original thread when going OT that differences may be discussed elsewhere. ( hence handbagsat dawn thread)

The reason being for exactly that which you outline.

I might be accused of you wanting to 'stroke' me **** , however I agree with you, there are people not interested in the banter, and are looking for an answer to an issue which to them at least is important

this is what i'm talkin' about, a bit of fun is ok but its when a serious question has been asked that would be helpful to many and it a) goes off on a deliberate tangent or b) a bickering thread.

thanx for mekin me chuckle tho'

it is not my intention to offend any1 with what is 'my opinion' . i enjoy the input of all to answer questions/pass on their knowledge/experience ;)

I try and help anyone I can and also like to have a giggle as well. :D:D:D

I cant speak for my pal ;). he still doesnt love me, and I guarantee at present I would be the last person he would elect as a mutual spokesperson.
And he has a bigger gang
On my part , I assure there was no intent in manipulating the chuckle muscles of others.

Anyway apparently coolasluck is happy to see us chuck handbags dressed circa 'It's a knockout' and prepared to pay money.

Actually for charity to raise a few quid, I could be up for that on a wildy meet

You can always report the thread for being problematic or off topic but to be honest there is only one person doing the clearing up and I'm sure he doesn't want to bothered with too much of it.

That's why there is the off topic and fun forums for that kind of thing. It would be nice if people respected that a bit more, the same way as they are keen to point out how they respect the locations they wild in. After all you wouldn't throw rubbish around in the woods or lay byes, I hope, so why should it be OK to do the same thing on a forum?

The other thing is, put oneself in the position of a prospective new member, maybe a new member who isn't used to internet forums. They ask a question or contribute to a thread for the first time only to find their valid on-topic contribution completely ignored, or submerged in sea of "arf, arf you numpties" and cliquey in-jokes. Not exactly the kind of place you'd feel welcome in as a new person is it?

For that reason I think it's polite for the regular members to keep the main channels clearer, so those who come less often can make sense of the board and use it sensibly.

Nope, I've got to say that I did have an issue with China a while back which was 'resolved'

Whowever mate.[Channa) I've got to say that I'm a wee worried about your attacks on Matchless. Yer old Biker pal does introduce a wee, bit,[ OK.a Very wee bit ]of lightness and dare I suggest, fun, into the forum?

Yer aw rite China, jist cool the beans.

there are plenty of 'anul' must be on topic, you will be shot if not, forums on the web this is not one of them and all the better for it. People will always get the answers they are after on this site, for better or for worse you have to engage with the other users on this site to get your answer, its a bit like real life IMHO. How many times when chatting do you end up going off at a tangent, me I do it all the time.

Personally I would hate it to be any different. BTW does anyone know how to get a broken grease nipple out ?

This is in the wrong thread, it should be in motorhome problems, get a life and read the the threads properly and post accordingly Thank you..:D:D:D:D:):):)

Just noticed its in motorhome problems oops!!!

As the old saying goes; A little levity for sanities sake!
However, it does seem that we are guilty of divesity in most threads as it is on most forums. Human nature calls for tollerance in most cases. More so when your 'serious 'ead' is stuck!
I just posted a serious answer to the grease nipple question, but could not resist a quip at the end. You only have to say 'grease nipple' and it conjours up a grin!
Excuse my insanity, but it is the only way I cope with the misery around me!
Paol.

I agree with Biggirafe. There are the other two forums that are all too serious but quite useful I guess. At least our banter is tongue in cheek. A new user to Facts might well think that motorhomers are a right bunch of bitter and twisted miserable old gits if they see some of the debates that go on there. Its quite easy to skip through and ignore the banter and just read the relevant bits if you wish. A new member or guest can look at the "Big Three" forums if you like and decide which one he/she/it wants to join. If they come on here and think "ooh, they are a bit mad on here, its far too anarchic for me" then we probably dont want them anyway. I love this forum the way it is and you can bet if you put a serious post like I did about my rear axle recently the same people who yesterday were calling you a big poof and threatening to come around and clobber you will try and help you out.

Ok so there is a lot of school boy banter and clearly the Wildies are a bit mad and rebelious but thats why I joined and they are my sort of people. If I was at a rally and there were three camps. I know which one I would be in.

Let's face it, what's better, a bit of banter or 'bump' to keep a topic active?

I know what I prefer.;)

Having paid for other sites before I found this, I would say keep the banter, after all we are talking about what is for most of us is a hobby, the answers to questions are all forthcoming and if a bit of fun is had in between surly thats all the better?
Another site I paid for seems to have cantankerous old members with opinions a little further right of Oswald Mosley, it scares me whenever they mention the term rallie! and don't even mention the word 'wild camping':)

I used to be there. Best way out is to have a go at the Sweeties and Chemical Daves until they complain about you disagreeing with there right wing crap then you'll get a yellow card. That's when you demand your money back.

It worked for me.:)

Fair point!
Some of the opinions expressed on the other side have made me want to be as far away from any other motorhomer's as possible!

I'm sure it's not typical, and i guess a little off thread!!!
