Our tentative plan for next year is to go up to Riga.

So the route would probably be Calais then Belgium -> Netherlands -> Germany -> Poland -> Lithuania -> Latvia.

Other than we would like to visit Strasbourg and Berlin, we are open to ideas regarding the route. We tend to avoid motorways/autobahns etc. Bertie doesn't like going much over 65 mph, and the views are better on smaller roads.

Has anyone experience of the camping facilities in Poland/Lithuania/Latvia?

It's in the early planning stage but we would welcome any input from someone whose been there.

Thanks
Steve

We had a trip last year Denmark-Norway-Sweden then ferry to Latvia-Estonia-Latvia-Lithuanian-Poland-Slovakia-Austria and back to UK. Wild camping sometimes and others on campsites. Highlites Saameera island Estonian, ICBM site in Lithuanian a very nice lakeside wire in Poland. Lots of wilding spots on Saameera. The only place we did not feel save was first shops in Poland. Stayed at P4n Poland 16-412 Stary Folwark a very new aire with all services on lakeshore. p4n Estonia 88311 Solar caravan park.

I love Riga, great place great drive. Lithuania / Poland / Latvia are fabulous you’ll not have an issue.

But keep an eye on the political climate

Strasbourg is a bit out the way if you are going Belgium, Netherlands. Or do you mean on return journey?
Would love more visits to explore east Germany as I loved it, but Colditz may be worth a visit if you like that sort of thing. The area south of Dresden, Nationpark Sachisische Schweiz is well worth an explore too. Although pretty busy in holiday season.
Fav part of Poland was their Lake District area.
Unfortunately drove straight through Lithuania and Latvia as was heading to family party in Estonia.

Back in the day I spent some time on Poland on business, so stayed in Hotels rather than sites.

The Old Town in Warsaw, most of which was reconstructed after WWII, will always stay in my mind

We did this PELL summer/ Autumn 23. You can find our stops and impressions of places on PolarSteps. Search for Katherine Clune.

Loved Poland. Only disappointment was most of the National Parks do not allow dogs. ELL are scenically uninteresting as so flat. But all countries fascinating how they kept a national identity with so much occupation.
