Does anyone know of a UK based supplier of door catches, specifically Baldicci v269. The ones that come up on a Google search are all in Italy and won't ship to the uk. Wonder why!

I have replaced various door catches etc but not had a problem obtaining them. Perhaps a photo of the item and make/model of motorhome might help.

The catches are Baldacci v269 and I've been in touch with 5 Italian shops that have the exact ones but non of them will ship to UK. To buy them in Italy you need a tax ID numbrer. I'm sure it's since we left the EU!

Prior to us leaving the EU having something sent from Italy was no different from having it sent from Coventry.
But I have had items sent from Italy, Germany, and France since leaving the EU. I had a part sent from Truma in Germany only last year. It did end up costing me a further £76 due to Vat being applied, even though I had already paid German vat, plus an £11.95 charge applied by Parcelforce, but other than that I had no issues having it sent to the U.K. I have lost count of things I have had posted from China, and other parts of Asia. Sorry to hear of your issues.

No stock but looks UK friendly, what you need is a member in Italy, there is one on the Owners forum I think.

I don't think that they have a problem shipping to the UK but their website clearly says;

OUR WEB SITE IS STRICTLY DEDICATED TO RECREATIONAL VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS
IF YOU ARE A END CUSTOMERS DO NOT FILL IN THE FORM ,
THANK YOU

It therefore may be worth approaching a UK manufacturer/converter or supplier such as Magnum Motorhomes to see if they would order on your behalf? Maybe worth a try.

Most of these handles are designed with the same screw hole distance so if there are not too many it might be worth changing them.

But what is the problem with the existing one?

I saw this to Rob, but that is the manufacturer. I understand why they won’t ship. Many wholesalers and manufacturers won’t deal direct with the public. But Ted contacted 5 Italian shops, I don’t understand why they won’t ship. If the handles cost more than £135 Ted will have to pay UK vat and £11.95 to parcelforce. But I don’t understand why they won’t ship. Due to us being out of the EU there is extra paperwork involved, maybe they don’t reckon it’s worth the effort.

Seems a bit strange though Bill as I have imported many items from the EU although mostly under the £135 threshold.

The OP doesn't state what make the motorhome is but I know that Bailey use these catches. May be worth getting in touch with the Motorhome manufacturer or an alternative caravan manufacturer to see if they can obtain one?

Me to Rob, I have had stuff sent from Italy after we left the EU.
But they have to do a customs declaration form even if it’s less than £135.
I reckon they just can be bothered dealing with us. :(

Maybe so Bill. In which case I'm not interested in dealing with them!

That'll learn 'em.

The centre part has cracked, it still works but only just. We have 11 in total and they seem to be about £14 each!

Part of Trigano?

have you tried contacting them?

No but will try when we get home from Speyfest. Hope it's not the same problem from all EU countries. Thanks.

This would need to be done via a dealer Rob.
Trigano won’t deal directly with the public regardless of where you live.

Now I have found a U.K. company who deal with Baldicci. They don’t stock the part required, but I would think they would be able to source the parts for you. They are Prima Leisure.

Just another tip, i have used amazon (germany) and they ship to UK almost as quick as normal, you just have to log on the german site separately.
I got a couple of brake discs within 2 days from germany when they were out of stock in UK, and didnt cost any extra for postage. maybe amazon (Italy) would do the same, although they are unlikely to have the specialist bits you need.
good Luck...
