Mill Road car park has a sign that invites Motorhomes FREE overnight.
Has any one tried it?

Some might say that the signs have no legal backing and should be removed!

On a serious note, the Welcome to Arundel website specifically says that motorhomes often stay overnight in that location - and implies that they are very welcome to do so: Arunel . Large trees from little acorns grow and it is encouraging to see more positive moves from local communities. We should all congratulate Arundel.

Our lad is at Chichester College and we have stayed twice in Arundel. Its a lovely spot to stay with some nice pubs and walks by the river. The first time the car park was closed (barrier down) so we parked further along the road past the castle. The second time we parked in the car park overnight and we were the only ones in there. You get locked in overnight by the barrier so its secure and safe. There is a number to ring but we had a chat to the attendant who made us feel welcome.

Highly recommended.

I've just arrived here and every sign in the car park says no unauthorised overnight parking. There is a phone number but no one answers on a Sunday afternoon. Where is this sign welcoming overnighting?

Mill Road is not a car park - it is on street parking.

I think you must be in the wrong place ...

The POI is just a little up the road from the carpark (heading towards Nature Reserve) and it constitutes a long (fairly quiet) road with no parking restrictions - there is pretty much always at least one van parked up. The carpark allows overnight parking if you let them know via the phone number. We have parked at both though admittedly spoke to the parking attendant rather than try the phone.

I know you can use the road, I have been doing that for years and did do last night. The original thread says the car park and refers to talking to the attendant. I walked around the car park again this morning and the only thing referring to motorhomes, apart from the restrictions is a sign directing them onto the back field. The carpark is now operated by contractors rather than the Estate.

I pass down this road on a regular basis,It would be nice to stop and have a chat with a few of you.
Hope you all display your WC stickers to identify yourselves.

Cheers
David

According to the Arundel Castle web site
Motorhomes are welcome

Height barriers (approx 2m) are in operation daily from 6pm to 8am and all day during Winter weekends (November to March).

Motorhomes are permitted to park in the Mill Road car park tarmac area. Please note that the bays are standard car sizes. One ticket per bay used (max 2) must be purchased and clearly displayed.

Weather permitting (April to September), Motorhomes may also be parked in the Mill Road car park overflow fields where there are no bays. One ticket must be purchased and clearly displayed.

Vehicles must not cause any obstruction to other car park users.

Please note: overnight camping is not permitted save by prior arrangement - contact visits@arundelcastle.org
