Anyone recommend a single DIN car stereo?

Hi there,

I have a question for anyone in the 'car-stereo-know'

I need to replace my old Philips CEM3000 in my van with something newer as it doesn't seem to like my new iPhone (I am intermittently getting static type noise on tracks which I didn't get before changing the phone!)

I only need basic functionality and thinking a lower to mid price model with Bluetooth - I dont use CD's so no need for that function - I typically just connect my phone and off I go. I do listen to the radio occasionally, but not too fussed if it has DAB or not (though I guess that could be nice) Would be also nice if it had colour changing LEDS - as I have a soft spot for those :)

Thanks
Melissa

You won't go far wrong with the Sony Xplod range....
Variety out there with varying pices/functions etc...

I've used them for years and current DAB/colour change led/built in hands free (with additional mic)
Has been solid gold for around £80 from memory.

Another Sony user here. You can change display colour works well and not expensive from Halfrauds.

Surprisingly, Halfords can be a good place for Radios. I bought one from there a few years ago. The prices are generally good but if you need any wiring adaptor kits, don't buy from Halfords as they are a ripoff.

I bought this fancy thing a few weeks ago when I couldn’t get to the pub to spend my money, I have no clue about auto electrics and therefore may not get around to fitting it. If interested you would have to google it to establish what it can or cannot do.
I bought off another forum for £100 if interested.
I’m not worried whether I sell it or not but could let it go if interested.

How about this Pioneer one? Seems good value and is designed with smartphones in mind.

I have one of those in my Panda Del, the app uses your phone as a satnav, excellent hands-free phone calls and organises all of your music, the built-in phone holder is very good and I would recommend it, a quality touch screen radio for that price is good value

I have one of these from china ,work 100%,or if you like the old look type,i ordered one but order cancelled due to cov 19 but the plug fits my camper st swap

I've sent you a PM

I just bought a second hand radio for a tenner all i wanted was an aux in i have my devices connected via audio cable for music, a second hand ipod shuffle has my music on once again connects via aux in and cable. This setup suits me no Bluetooth issues and the unit was easy to fit and probably wont attract any unwanted attention. The old unit has been put in safe storage because it was the original OEM unit for my T4 and did not have an aux in option.
For phone calls I do have my mobile tethered to Jabra Drive Hands-Free Wireless Bluetooth Speakerphone Car Kit.

If he hadn't then I would have (well I would have negotiated  )
I have just found a Tevion single din bluetooth head unit in my shed, cd player, sd card, usb and aux in with remote control, you could have had it FOC Melissa, and I am only 10 miles away, sorry I have only just found it today

That’s the one I spent my hard earned on. The classic, £12 one. The really expensive bit was the aerial extension from Halfords.
Plug n play apart from that. Seems to work well.

Our van came with a Sony, I can't fault the performance, but it's got lots of fiddly little buttons and a menu system with loads of, in my mind, unnecessary options. My Suzi's came with Blaupunkt units, clear easy to operate with minimum of large buttons which are easy to operate with minimum of distraction whilst on the road.
