backs been bad so not had a chance to do anything to the inside in 3 weeks esp since its cold and damp. if anyone is free for a couple of hours at the weekend (Jen lent a hand other week) and could help out that would be great. its just more sawing and screwing, fitting things etc, rather than the decorating of the inside. like with help to fix and set up the cooking area, make seats/ bed part and fix in place things. so i can still use it. then later when i can, i can faff around with the little bits. its just so i can have my weekends away with the dogs, and have it ready for the new year getaway with peeps from here.

im 10 min from Meadowhell.

ta muchly for reading :)

It's a bit far for me normally, but if you are at Ribblehead over New Year 29-31 Jan, I don't mind doing some work on it. My carpentry is a bit slow and basic, but it's pretty solid.

yeah i know, its that ribblehead meet i need it for for lol. pity he doesnt live close, that guy at the big meetup other week, who got blind drunk, seduced henry the dog, and next morning worked like a trooper on his van, no bad head (or memories from the nightbefore lol) my van would be done in no time with him doing it!

had to change my plans for the inside, as was going to do the bed and storage area at the rear like yours, but with the size of the bed, and what i want to use it for, to make it strong enough i would have needed a whole oak tree worth of wood so stop it from collapsing so would be too heavy :-(

You would have been OK, just use slightly deeper wood for the supporting beams.

Strength goes up with the square of the depth, or put another way if you double the depth of a beam it is 4 times as strong. I think the supporting beams on mine were only 3"x2" timber spanning 6ft across the van but I could have made them 4"x2" or even 5"x2" or 6"x2" and I could have then supported 20 dogs up there all bouncing around and trying to bonk each other!

i was more worried about the height of the bed, and the centre of gravity up there..... ;-) i didnt want the van to tip over lol.

if you can get your van over to bolton on friday i could spare you half a day maybee longer ive got most power tools here im a joiner by trade probally got enough timber and ply to do a full van lol.

thanks, that would be amazing. me and jenny hadnt a clue what we were doing the other week. it was coming along nice, but i cant even use a power tool, as the vibration goes right through my back and i scream like a baby due to the pain.

its just a case of knocking up a solid frame for a sofa. then open up for a bed. fixing the cooker/sink frame, so its more steady, which i guess it would be with sides on and a couple of other things. showing me the right way to make storage units etc would be great. and how to cut and make cuboard doors. stuff i can do but can do bit by bit as i go along.

that would be great, im free on fri :)

my mobile is 07976613003 i dont know about showing you how to make storage units though ive just bought mine from bq because i had no weight issues ie 7.5 ton truck

that looks cool. i can see how its made but would have nooooooooooooo idea how to actually fit it together, i can see how its slotted, but my skills mean it wouldnt hold my weight or be strong at all (or even straight lol)

well you sleep in double bed with slat on and they only got four legs this has six you could put an extra one in middle if you didnt feel secure try frecycle for a bed frame with the slat in if you get one with the slats that are in two section then you dont have to cut them in half
