Did anyone get caught in the Bus Lane Scheme in Preston?

The Lendal Bridge Fiasco resulted in the repayment to motorists of £1.3 million.

Total cost of Lendal Bridge fiasco to top £760,000 (From York Press)

A very similar scheme in Preston has now been condemned for the same reasons of inadequate signage.

Fishergate bus lane signs ruled ?not adequate? as appeals upheld | Blog Preston

Fishergate tickets ?should be refunded? - Lancashire Evening Post

“And immediately the AA urged Lancashire County Council to repay all motorists caught in what the motoring organisation recently branded a traffic “trap” and today described as “not fit for purpose.”
Council chiefs will now have to decide if, as a result of the ruling, they should refund between £900,000 and £1.8m in fines.”

The council will now pout and bluster that it will take legal advice and it will consider the implications but in the end it has no choice. The council had no right to issue the PCNs and, like York, they will have to repay all the fines.

Not personally but a neighbour and 2 friends have :scared: I saw the article on the news this morning and rang them

I have to think about bus lane's as here we are allowed to use them if we got blue badge have been away and without thinking have used bus lanes elsewhere have got shouted at but just ignore them but realise why when I am in bus lane

Anyone caught by the Bus Lane Scheme in Preston.

Regularly sit in the coffee shops, and watch drivers unfamiliar with the Preston town centre go past the traffic prohibited signs, and miss the 'escape' turn off.

Hasn't helped the traffic flow one iota but does generate considerable council revenue, Try and get to Preston station or the associated large car park ..

The mixed pedestrian AND traffic, initiatives ? make me smile, just means you will get run over by a Bus, a Taxi, or a panicking car or delivery driver ...

If we have to go to Christian Road to pick up a Royal Mail parcel it`s a bloody nightmare :scared:

From turning up Corporation Street and along the short distance of Fishergate to turn down Christian Road it like a scene out of Death Race 2000 :scared:

Which ever numpty came up with the idea of " Shared Space " needs a check up from the neck up :mad2:

If signage etc is inadequate people should be refunded . Don't know about Preston or Newcastle but bus lanes definitely work in Edinburgh .

A goodwill gesture from Lancs County Council

Refunds for Fishergate Bus Lane drivers - Lancashire Evening Post

"County Hall bosses decided they will review cases of those who contact it in writing ‘as a gesture of goodwill’ but announced the bus lane will remain in place".

So ... if you got caught and you apply you might get a refund. Not because we got it wrong but as a gesture of goodwill.

The bus lane stays but there will be no camera enforcement. I don't see how there can be any enforcement after the adjudicator decided the signage is inadequate.

The council is set to repay £1.3 million in goodwill payments. I'm a Lancs Co Council council tax payer.
