I have seen an old stock Autosleeper Beckford and It DOES fit my bill as it is Automatic and Mercedes Sprinter base.
It has the rear lounge that converts to two seperate b beds or one big double, the kitchen is great and it has a dance floor with space for loads although it is only 2 seater. It is my alternative to a Hymer MLT, but cheaper.
Does anyone know why it was dropped in the first year as a model and do Autosleepers have any build quality trouble, it looks good and uses good components, but nagging thoughts as to why it has not sold. Anybody have a similar models and do they like them.

autosleepers

gg........I have looked at autosleepers as a possible upgrade to my existing motorhome, and impressed with the layouts.........and as regards dropping the model, in 2007 trigano dropped its verstile arrangement tribute, which could sleep betwen 1 and 6 people, and replaced with cluttered models only good to sleep 2..........when I asked a knowledable guy why they were dropped, he gave the obvious reply 'because they were good and worked'.......steve bristol

Pughed2, where on earth have you seen or read that the Trigano Tribute can sleep 1 to 6 people?? I have a Trigano tribute, 2009 and there is no way 6 people can sleep in it, with the bed made in a transverse position ie. from side to side you could at the most sleep 3 adults, but I really would not try 4/5/ or 6 :shag:

No experience of them personally, but I have a friend who has had a couple of autosleepers, and from what I've seen they are nicely put together. On the down side they have had some warranty issues with the Thetford toilet, and these have been very badly dealt with.

I've had 2 autosleeper troopers ( t4 base) build quality and functionality was excellent. The new version on the t5 base was much less clever and I've heard build quality has gone downhill in recent years since Charles T handed over control.

I had an 1996 Autosleeper Duetto and the quality was great, it was just the Transit that let it down.

I now have a 2010 Autosleeper Duetto and the Transit is great it is the Autosleepers conversion that lets it down.

They went from pretty much the best build quality to pretty much the worst. I am still repairing and replacing bits of the interior.

There where several bits missing from my van that all the other 2009 -2010 vans had, but the fixing holes for them were not there:

1) fold out divider on the back of the bathroom door.
2) Water proof trim around the top of the toilet.
3) Several pieces of cloth finishing.
4) The heater should have been dual fuel but was only diesel.

When I phoned and asked why they were not fitted I was told that they did not have the right parts so they just deleted them off my van.

Next I needed some spares for the trim, after several phone calls I was told that none were or ever would be available.

A friend of mine is a chippy and when I was trying to fix the bed he arrived and had a look in the van. He thought it was a poor quality self build because of how bad the woodwork is. The joints are terrible they had not countersunk the screws, they were just driven in screws until the ends of the wood had split. Also the front legs of the bed were screwed up into a piece of 18mm ply, but the screws went between the layers so had just split the wood apart.

The covering of the cupboard doors was coming off.

The one side window had a 10mm gap in the sealant at the top and was letting water in.

When I took off the inspection cover to check the water heater and eberspacher, the chamber had loads of saw dust in it that had not been cleaned out, this is where the heater sucks its air in from.

The list goes on.

I will never buy another Autosleeper again unless it was cheap enough to be able to upgrade all their cost cutting, and repair the awful workmanship.

trigano will sleep 6

winnemuccio..........the pre 2007 tribute, with the extendable bed immediately behind the drivers seats is king size and intended by trigano to sleep up to 4 people.........easily sleeps 3 adults and maybe one child...........and then if you recline the front seats down over that bed at the front 2 more people or children can sleep in the cab with a fair bit of room............I agree that you would not want to travel with so many people in a tribby, in fact mine has only seat belts for 3 but you could sleep 6 if required......but the new ones?......no space.........and theres some uk models with good designs coming online now........such as kingham and wildax, so I will be changing model next time......steve bristol

I know Gwaygway has asked the same question on ASOF but having painstakingly gone through the membership list I can report that only 3 owners with Beckfords have registered on the site, 2 have never posted and the 3rd has his Beckford in New Zealand, so I don't think you are going to get a good response to your questions. I know not every AS owner joins the forum but from those numbers I would assume very few were sold. As to why it was dropped- you received this answer which somewhat explains it - 'The Beckford was a derivative of the Berkshire/Wilton end lounge models. In 2014 AS rationalised the model range and dropped the Malvern fixed bed model. However the Dealers still wanted and still sold the Malvern so in 2015 the Malvern was re-introduced and the Beckford dropped.'

That is as I suspected, I think the one I was looking at was the NEC show model and never got sold and they put it out to a dealer at a knockdown price but even then has never sold. The finish on that one is very good which is why I think it might the show model but it hasnt gone????? I like it and surely someone else took a fancy to it as well, I might make a really silly offer and watch them faint, or punch me. Two years is a long time sitting there unloved and deteriorating tyres battery etc. thank you for your answers.
