We are interested in finding out if there are any other local community areas where for a small donation the locals welcome and encourage motor-homes similar to the one at Sheildaig i know its easy to wildcamp up there but if we can do some good by contributing a small amount to the locals i feel that it would encourage more areas to provide a facility.
Thanks in advance.
Dave

There is an area called firemore beach near Poolewe on the road to cove it is a donation in a box.

This is it Dave :- OS Map of Firemore. Poolewe Beach | Poolewe | Highland | British Beaches

It`s on the B8057 that runs out of Poolewe towards Cove.

Be very careful if you drive into it as it is very very undulating and needs taking slowly.

There`s also a nice memorial to the Russian Arctic Convoys :- Loch Ewe Wartime | Loch Ewe Memorial | Rubha nan Sasan | Loch Ewe Defence Structures | Nato Fuel Station

Keep going right to the end of the road and there is a car park and somewhere to turn around.

Is Sheigra past Kinlochbervie still going? Think the john Muir trust own/run it.
Also West Harris trust. £5 night pay by paypal when you next get online.

Sheildaig, honesty box, tap only , great views / sunset. Near the Torridon so some great mountains too. Think it is on the POI file along with the tap. 57.525295, -5.647511

If it's a fee, then it really isn't a donation is it, more like a charge for staying there.!

We`ve stayed there a few times and really enjoyed it, i also thought the " £5 Donation " to be acceptable.

However, if it is now £10 then in my opinion that is too much and we won`t bother again.
