Another nice motorhome.

Here’s one for Trev. A Skoda campervan

Many years ago, in the late 1960's, my dad bought a large motorhome based on the BMC version of the Commer Walkthrough chassis. It was effectively a caravan on the chassis and absolutely gorgeous. It was all dark wood inside and slept six in comfort. I believe it was one of only six made and dad made a handsome profit when he sold it five years later, when they went to live in New Zealand. I wish I had pictures of it, but dads stuff was lost somewhere along the line when he became ill.

I worked in bairds newtownabbey and they were the main agent, 6 cyl 6354 engine was the best one in the walkthrough.

Not sure what the power plant was, but dad did say it was a big brute. At the time I was thinking maybe 2 ltr, that was very big to me! (Much bigger than my 998 A35 van! ) But it seemed to pull well around Wales. I'll bet you are wondering why I have no idea of the engine size? Well, I had started courting about two months before and I only had eyes for her. But after 57 years together and lots of water under the bridge? I regret not taking more notice of mechanical things back then... 😂 😂

They also had the 4108 4 cyl engine which would not pull the cap of your head, many folk fitted that engine to ford cars for taxi use, i suspect yours had the better 6 cyl engine which was a brute and a good one.

I had a Perkins 6345 in a combine Harvester....reg plate was bmw530c...it was approx 100 horsepower , the 4cylinder version was 80 odd hp and blew head gaskets.
