Hi all

I have been registered as a free member for quite some time, probably a couple of years, and I browse the forums quite regularly but this is my first post. My other half subscribed last month prior to our Ireland trip and she posted an intro here

Anyway I just wanted to post a brief "hi" and to mention some of the great spots we stayed at during our trip, along with Street View links

Kinsale Harbour - Lower Road. This road just outside town where there is on steet parking with dedicated larger bays further down. I don't know whether these are intended for motorhomes or for tourist coaches but there were no signs prohibiting overnight parking, and 2-3 other motorhomes parked up for the night. It looks like a major road on street view but in reality is just a side road, with little passing traffic.

Inch Beach, Dingle. We came across this gem by accident and it was stunning, 4 kilometers of sandy beach and we walked the whole way up and back down again. There is a sign indicating no camping overnight but there were 3-4 vans already parked up on the beach, spoke to the owners of one who were locals and regularly use this spot, and they confirmed it is not enforced.

Coumeenoole Bay, Dingle. Stunning little bay, it is claimed that some of the scenes from Ryan's Daughter were filmed here. Very steep and windy road down to the small bay and I wouldn't recommend driving down there in anything larger than our 4-berth coachbuilt T4. There is a small area of concrete hardstanding down by the beach and a level bit just big enough for one vehicle. There is nowhere to turn around either and the place was jam packed with tourist vehicles parked up when we arrived so we left very early the next morning and parked at the top of the hill, because I was scared of getting blocked in and having to reverse all the way up!

Quilty Harbour. Again another generic no camping sign but another van already there and we weren't bothered at all. There is a tap inside the wall of the village graveyard on the right hand side, we filled our water tank to the brim. The residents didn't object! Street View doesn't go all the way down.

Galway Cathedral Car Park. Ideal spot a few minutes walk from the city centre and surprisingly quiet considering the location.

Topaz Truck Stop, Dublin. Right by the port, we stayed on the last night prior to an early ferry. They charge 10 euros for the night but we didn't have to pay as the pay and display machines were broken!
