sorry about all these questions, but we ARE newbies lol!

right....me being female...i want a decent cooker. dnt like the one in the van at the mo as it doesnt have a temperature gauge...only low medium high

where do you think is the best place to look for a replacement cooker? dnt need a hob...just the actual oven that slots in the cupboard space

thanks guys :)

will probably have loads more questions before the end of the day ;)

practice makes perfect. give it a try .you may find you can get used to it. most are only a guide. all cookers are different gas leccy never find one the same .i used to be a chef so went to several places ,practice practice .its the only way.

but i bake bread every day :( thats why i'm so particular about wanting a thermostat!!

hi vwalen......

you said in another post to me about fitting an lpg domestic cooker in your camper......please dnt think i'm being dense, but does that run off the calor gas bottles you can buy (ie butane) or is it a different type of gas?

think this is the route we're gonna go down if they're easy enough to fit, run etc....thanks in advance :)

i use an household frigidaire cooker. it runs on 28mbr butane and 37mbr propane. just like the bottles you use. if in maroc sometimes it as to run propane through a butane regulator or vice versa. cant tell what they will put in your bottle. i now use a moroccan gas bottle in morocco and a spanish cepsa in spain. normally i use butane. sometimes i use an english bottle and fill at the pumps. then its autogas ran through a propane reg. all the gas is lpg. its sizes are 900mm high 600mm deep 50mmwide.4 burners grill in oven .does have big oven but think it would be nice to have seperate grill sometimes. but would buy another the same. had it 10yrs . does have pan space under oven. cooks lovelly in an old fashioned enamel pimpled dish. gammon chicken fish you name it put veg in dish as well al;l cooked in one dish .less washing. i also use a butterfly 3litre pressure cooker as well. another must as makes hardly any steam and saves gas .
have copper pie to back of cooker then a rubber pipe advise high pressure pipe a\s its not really more expensive to low pressure. remember calor is only a marketting name gas is gas. you could use any market name. if in uk i fill my own bottles at the pumps. buy a filler adaptor from ebay. or pm me for a tel.no.

Why not buy a $10 oven thermometer? Plonk it on the shelf in the oven and bake to your hearts content.

must say last winter my partner was making bread every other day. she loves baking ,pasties pies, etc.we found spain n portugal were getting too expensiove .but flour in lidl was 34cents and as we always carry yeast we just made bread as neccasary. we buy big bags of flour when in maroc ,its abit different there makes lovelly bread. mind you its incedibly cheap to buy maroc bread anyway. and its lovelly and fresh. sometimes you find the bakery and weatch it coming out of there big clome ovens .we look for them in the villages .eat it while its still warm no butter just the bread its morrish.
if you have space definately go for a full size cooker and oven. worth it if you use it.
we go away for winter but i always take alot of cryovac packed bacon joints .like gold dust in muslim countries . roasted with honey spread on top makes my mouth water thinking of it. also take loads of english (danish)bacon. and chedder cheese. even took enough to bring some home last winter , we did have 13 killo.cheese and onion pie. mmmm
