An era closes

So today we have just bought a new (to us) van, picking it up on Thursday and now getting a bit giddy !!!!! It's a bit bigger, newer and half the mileage too and quite a few quid below our payout too, so life is back to, for us !!, normal

So now we need a volunteer to fit a solar panel on the roof for us, I can't do it

Fantastic Peter. Looks absolutely cracking that and in good condition from the photo. Hope you have many happy trips in it.
 
That looks a fab van, yep solar and maybe lith batteries and you are sorted, happy days ahead and health to wear.
 
Yes the 'van looked wonderful, it needed a good clean, but we decided it was the one, so we gave him a £100 to hold it and tried to set up a bank transfer for the ballance !!!!! All day today we have tried to get the bank to authorise payment, but to no avail and in the end they blocked my account !!!! Obviously he must be a dodgy character and known to the banks, so a £100 lesson and off we joly way go again. At this point I could say some very rude words, but even at my age there are still lessons to be learned
 
The ad looks genuine enough, although looking at the feedback there are quite a few motors and bits of motors so must be a dealer of some sort. The last V5 on this van was issued in May 2025
 
You have been and viewed it presumably at the owners address, so you know it isn’t a scam,
It has a good mot history for a vehicle of its age and surprisingly no mention of corrosion which is unusual on these vehicles
I still think it is a problem with your bank rather than with the owner of the motorhome
 
I have to say when I viewed the MOT history I was a little jealous, my van is a bit newer but has a lot more issues that have had to be rectified. Demand an explanation from your bank, as others have said

I had a caravan written off (1990) when it ended up being dragged down the M5 on its side (SWMBO driving).

It was taken to a dealers in Reading for storage, but the insurers sent the loss adjusters to our address in Lancashire.
We invited the adjuster to have a cuppa and he said sorry, I'll tell the insurance company.

A week later, another loss adjuster turned up to our home.
Another cuppa and he went back to his office.

The third loss adjuster finally went to the right place and wrote it off.
Too many scratches on the window, side & roof made it too expensive to repair.

The company offered £500 more than we hade paid and I accepted.
It was still usable so when they offered it to me for £300 I accepted!

Our policy included them returning personal possessions to us and I offered to do this for £200 which they accepted,
meaning it only cost me £100 for the van.

I drove to Reading, the dealer fitted a new 12N plug FOC (he had been paid 6 weeks storage and was very happy)

We towed it home, staying overnight at an Oxford CL.

I bought a tin of polish and cleaned up the van. We then used the van for another 4 years before trading it in.

The roof and windows were still scratched but hey,

You need to find out why the bank blocked your account.

We had an account blocked because the bank "thought" a payment coming in was money laundering.

It was from a solicitors and was payment for a house we had sold.
 
sad news oppy......kve shed many a tear over a couple of vehicles which i classed as part of the family;
hope you will manage to find another to suit you both....and that you will be on the road again making even more memories...take care
