american motorhomes

Hi, its just not how long they are, but how wide and what weigh they are that also counts. Many of the RV,s here in the UK are not legal, this is also true of many for sale at dealers and on e-bay here in the uk. The thing is thats all ok until one needs to call in the insurrance who will check the RV is legal for our roads,
There is a site on the DVLA site that gives details of RV,s that can be used on our roads, I have been looking at american motorhomes for some time now, also please take into account that the import costs are very high around 29% of the selling price paid, and then one needs to get the lights, elecs sorted for use on UK roads, so this all adds up.
It would be best to buy the newest RV one can and it will have a better resale value when in the UK, anything to old will be hard to resale when the time comes.

When we were in Key West, Florida a couple of years ago we saw a German registered Hymer travelling down the main high street. I wish I could have stopped them to ask how much it had cost to ship it to the USA.

shipping,

Hi, re shipping to the USA, I looked into this a few weeks ago for are hymer B544, it came out at just under £2000 pounds, and took 6 weeks to get there.
I am still working out the insurrance part, I know it can be done but it all takes time to sort out.

price

Hi G, the price was just for the motorhome, both I and my partner would need to pay above the £2000. But we are trying to work something out, I loved the states and want to try to tie something in with their ACW replays, the last one Iwent to had over 600 horsemen in the field and over 3500 reinactors as infantry, it was a great site, beads the 400 or so at waterloo.
