You'd have thought I would have learnt my lesson about over loading shelves, but I haven't and need to buy some more! The waffle ones are super expensive and break. Has anyone replaced them with the expanding ones? Experiences?
Thanks in anticipation.

p.s. Keeping our Adria, after all that ... found expat insurance for me.

I would be concerned about the part that locks the expanded part loosening with driving vibrations and allowing the shelf to come in and drop down?
I have not used this kind of shelf but I would add some kind of wedge between the two rungs so the shelf could not close up again unless it was physically removed.

Glad to hear that you are keeping the Adria, if it were mine I would have regretted it and beaten myself up.
It will be very easy to stop an expanding shelf contracting by using a U shaped cable clamp or make your own from aluminium or plastic.
I'd post a pic if I knew how to on the phone!

Thanks Ral. Slept a LOT better once we made the decision to keep Jez and live with not having it in Greece and J not being able to drive it.

Think Ill order the shelves … can’t be any worse than the broken ones I’m using now!!!

Went to order, but all the ones I could find were to deep (not all about the width!). So looks like I'm stuck with the easily breakable Dometic ones! A really Gap in the market. Last time they needed replacing I took one to a glass cutter, but he refused as too many notches.

i don't understand the problem .is it something a thick piece of acrylic and a bandsaw could fix|?

What about getting them made in plastic/perpex ?
Tried in shatterproof glass but the maker refused as too many notches either side which enable the shelf to be maneuvered into place. Otherwise we'll have to take the door off every time to clean it!

Made new ones for my fridge out of perspex sheet. Cut shelves to size so they where a snug fit and drilled a series of holes in each shelf to allow passage of air. Have worked well for me for the last 4 years.

That's a good idea. deals with the inevitable rusty shelf problem with the standard fridge shelf as well.

If you have the skills and tools ... we have neither!
This may be of interest to you - and others ....

There is a nice chap in Kelso who will supply acrylic sheets cut to the size you need and you could also have slots cut out in them for ventilation (he uses a CNC machine to make all kind of custom Acrylic stuff). He is located in a little industrial unit around 1 mile or so from the Kelso meet location.
I was there just a week ago getting some acrylic to use as a cover from my electrics under the sofa (in case anything falls down when extended as a bed).

Hadn't thought about Perspex or Acrylic ... will look for a local supplier Tuesday. Going to bite the bullet and order the door shelves and salad tray .... £££s. Ho hum

i still wonder the size and shape, i have a piece of about 5mm acrylic .i can probably cut it ,but i can't shape it
