In case anyone is interested:

I just picked up a nice budget weather station in Aldi for £20.00.

It has a radio linked external sensor (I put mine in my gas cupboard) and the clock gets its time from the MSF signal.

It has a nice colour display and runs on batteries (there is a mains adapter too).

It even came in black to match my interior fittings, although they do white ones too.

I'm happy with it anyway. :)

Good for about 12months if you are lucky then the outside sensor stops communicating with the inside bit. Had 3 two from aldi one from lidl missus won't let me buy another lol. And the outside sensor never got wet and still works just don't pair up anymore.

12 months you have go to be kidding, between 3 and 6 months is par for the course. At least Aldi do give you your money back anyway, you just have to queue up for 3 months to get it. !!!!

Lol I think the first one I ever got lasted 12months. I took a speaker back that was 9 months old they said I had to pay and send it back myself would not swap it they had them in at 9.99 would have cost me more to send back. So I don't bother much with aldi stuff now as the 3 year warranty ain't worth it.

I bought one about 20 years ago. It is made by Oregon Scientific. It still works perfectly today and is pretty accurate too.

Thanks - now I'm depressed. Where's that wine bottle?

I figured with a three year warranty it was worth a go. Ho hum . . . :(

Just remembered - the last one I got from them lasted for years. It only got thrown away because the other half dropped it and cracked the screen.

Stick with it. Might prove different!

don"t know about aldi, but most of lidls stuff has a three year guarantee. as for your speaker, it is the retailers responsibility to sort it out.you bought from them, not the manufacturer. we bought a pad saw which went faulty in the first year. I got a full refund when I pointed out that it was their responsibility to sort it out.

Just be aware that gas bottles give a refridgerating effect when in use, so you may get a false low temperature reading if the sensor is located in your gas cupboard.

Place the external sensor in a small tupperware type box with a sachet of silica-gel in it that should keep it in good condition. And hopefully it might last longer too.

Well I trust my good old pinecone from Spain it never fails to tell me the right weather, ie, opened up its going to be ok, closed its going to p... down , how simple is that.:dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

I was thinking about getting an Oregon one but couldn't think where to put out side sensor. Any ideas, I have a Hymer. Can't see the point in a cupboard as it going to be insulated from real temperature. Any other ideas please

Weather station !

I do not need an electronic one..
I have my wife..She tells me if its hot or cold and wont go out if it is raining.
Costs me more than £20 but more fun as well !

Sky do not despair I bought one in Lidl (ascot) 4 years ago with external remote sensor I left in outside locker weather station tells time, out/in temperature, calander. Barormater. For under 20£( cant remember exact) Changed external sensor batteries once , still working perfect to date.

Fasten it behind the plastic liner in a wheel arch or inside a bumper if possible. It needs to be protected from direct sunlight and as well as possible from windchill, whilst far enough from any heat sources. It should also be reading air temperature, rather than contacting metal surfaces and taking the reading from there. Hope this helps.

I have one of those, mine also becomes a Satnav, well she tells me where to go anyway:dog:

Had mine from lidl 4 years now have had to change the battery to external sensor every year it's taped under the van on a chassis member , the whole thing has worked great apart from the fact that though I set it up to english time GMT it reverts to European time overnight not that major a problem as most of the time I'm out in the van I'm over there,
