attatched is photos of my so called whale taps, beige, and my newly purchased whale taps white, for the kitchen sink. They don't look the same, and don't fit onto my existing pipe fittings, photo also enclosed. How do I get these taps onto my existing pipes? thanks

looks like the black elbow's are 12mm John Guest fittings same size etc but sometimes don't push far enough onto some tap tails to seal, you should find that the white whale fittings will do the job

The black ones are 10mm. White are standard pipe. Check screw fix for adaptor?

have ordered the adaptors, someone posted a link. just a quick question though. I tried to find john quest taps, but couldn't find anything on the net. whale site says all there taps have that little groove on them. mine definitely doesn't. so what make of tap is my beige one? viv

They look like early model Whale taps. I have only seen Whale taps with the flange type fixing they were designed for the caravan market and as such been around for years.
A better photo of the taps not the underneath would confirm

Here is an eBay item number it will show you what you need 370803456718

Hope this helps
No these dont work. I need the dimensions the other way round. where it is 12 i need 10 and where it is 10 i need 12. Can you send another link please. viv The whale tap ends are 12mm

starting all over

The new taps are 12mm with a groove.....the water pipes are 12mm measured from the outside So if doing away with the existing elbow which is 10mm from the tap to 12mm to the pipe, what fitting will i need. If there is not fitting, then keep the elbow, and what fitting would i need? thanks viv

As always hard to follow Viv. As I understand it you want a 12mm elbow ?

BUT looking t your underside photo I would thing a 12mm STRAIGHT connector would suit better no bend for the water to go round.

not sure if i need a 12mm elbow. I typed the message as the person who was doing my taps was beside me and dictating.
I understand previously while i posted, he intended to keep the existing elbow on, so was looking for an adapter from the new 12 mm whale tap to the elbow. As by now i was getting totally confused about male and female sides i said to him ........well , why am i keeping the elbow....do away with it and what fittings do i now require.......he said, new taps 12mm, old pipe work 12mm .......(from memory...last post was more accurate). i MEAN is there any reason why i have an elbow????? Does it serve a purpose.? Does that elbow have to remain, seeing i brought the adaptors and they were upside down.? viv

Viv a elbow is a restriction in the pipe you friend says keep this well it's an elbow from 12mm pipe to. 10mm tap ok to fit. 12 mm tap you will need ANOTHER FITTING to go from. 10mm fitting to A 12 mm tap you follow this.

Look at your existing pipe work photo you have a blue 12mm pipe. Remove the existing 12/10 elbow fit a straight 12/12 connector two less joints to leak job solved

Alf

Ps if you have a friend sitting at the side of you advising you it may be better to follow his advice rather than complicate the problem asking others.

no alf , friend has now gone home with a headache.... YOU have just confirmed what i was thinking.... , why keep the elbow? do away with it, the adaptors didnt work,...what am i left with....12/12 i think. Thats surely more easy to find that a 12/10 adapter, upside down. Dont know about the male and female stuff... but agree i now need a 12/12....do you have a link? and what side is male, and what side, is female? How can you tell? my friend said , they both the same sex. FOR HEAVENS SAKE.....i cant believe i am having a sexual discussion about some pipework!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! iF ITS not enough to deal with straight, gay, bisexual, transexual, she transexual, and the inbetween sexuals on humans.....is it really necessary to have pipework labeled the same..? whats wrong with saying ..........a in diagram =12mm etc

Hi Viv.
I don't think John Guest speed fit comes in 12mm? John Guest Speedfit Fittings | Buy John Guest Speedfit Fittings Online for their full range. I'd take the tap and the elbow you have to a camper shop, stick it on their counter and they will give you the parts you need.

I'm off to France in the morning, tried the water pump. zilch! Went with pump to local caravan shop ten minutes before closing - got one £35 no problems, most of these guys love to solve problems.

PS; a male fitting fits inside a female fitting. as it should be!!! he he

If you have John Guest fittings a good plumbers merchants should be able to assist, without brazing pipes etc the other option is hep 2 o (Hepworth plastics) we used both extensively on statics but tbh from the pictures i can't help more than that

Channa

Viviane you need 2 equal straight 12mm couplers ( connector ) put the pipe in one end and connect to the tap 12mm tail simplest
