Having never had an AdBlue vehicle before where is the best place to buy it from in containers. Where do you get yours ?

Done 3,500 miles now and it's dropped to 82% so no panic yet.

I do know it's all about how these places store it and it has to be kept out of direct sunlight so that rules out Morrisons and B&Q instantly as you see it regularly stored outside or in the glass entranceways etc. etc.

I have started using Wynn's Clean and Protect from getting the vehicle, the dealer had it serviced and the AdBlue tank filled to 100% but looked at me daft when i asked if any additive had been used as well such as Wynn's ?

I get mine at a local garage. The VW uses very little and always gives me a range and how much to add. Some folk do warn of overfilling though.

I have had my truck nearly 2 years. I have never filled it up. It was dealer serviced last year (for warranty) and it got filled then. Just before the service it put a message on the dashboard Ad Blue needed, 1000 miles left.

I guess when it does the same next time I will just buy some and fill it up. I get the impression it uses very little.

Why do some feel the need for a fuel additive on a modern car?

I buy it from my local NAPA Autoparts, they have a lot of branches so hopefully there’s one near you. Good price, stored correctly and in date, manufactured by Tennants in Manchester to the correct quality standards.

My ad blue gauge used to stick at about half and I presumed it was crystals. I added the 125g size Wynn's and it hasn't stuck since

I bought the lager size bottle Chris (500ml). It was a false economy as it doesn't keep once opened so I had to throw the unused i.e. most of it, away!

I shall make sure I buy the 125 size in future!

As you won’t be doing high mileage so your usage will be fairly minimal I would put some anti crystal fluid in,
Tray and gauge it if you are buying it in a container rather than at the pump that you can get all or most of the container in as once it is opened it will soon go off. Unless you put some anti crystal agent in the remaining adblue

What would you recommend, Richard? I buy 10 litre container of pig pee from costco, works out at £1 per litre.

I get mine from Amazon two 10L containers turn up in a cardboard box, each container wrapped in black polythene. Last time I looked was about £22. Son has prime therefore postage is free.

Thank you Richard, i'm pretty sure the adblue tank on this Trafic is 20 litres so i'm thinking of getting down to say 45% then getting 10L adblue which should go in and adding a 125ml bottle of Wynn's Clean and Protect which says it treats up to 15L.

I'm wary about where to buy from because as i said i've seen it on show outside in the sun at both Morrisons and B&Q

Had adblue vehicle since 2016, bought it in the 10 litre containers from many places for few years, including petrol stations where it seems to be always outside.
For last few years have used the pumps usually found along truck pumps at service stations.
Never had an issue due to crystallising but am aware some do have issues.
Needed a new NOx sensor in June when in Germany, chances of that being down to crystallising is little more than zero.

Some manufacturers specifically say not to use any additives in the AdBlue. Fiat warn that it might invalidate the AdBlue warranty. Perhaps that is why the dealer gave you a funny look. BS ISO 22241-1:2019 defines strict quality standards for AdBlue and I don’t risk adding anything to it.

Some forecourts have smaller vehicle AdBlue pumps and I top up when I see one, easier than getting tangled up with the HGVs.
