Just tried to join ADAC breakdown assistance and the website will not accept our address here in France and also insists on a German address and a German bank account. Any comments please as clearly there a UK customers here on the forum? Also any other recomendations of breakdown cover here in France from our other ex-pats would be useful. 3500kg Dethleffs 6.75mtr's.

Trick is to use 99999 as the postcode and click the pay by bank transfer or just phone them up and ask for an English speaker.

You can join over the phone and pay by card.

Cancelling ADAC

I emailed them one month before membership was due for renewal to cancel, as now have Nationwide bank insurance.

Got a reply, you must give us THREE months notice to end membershit !!

We are all sorted with them now, except that we seem to have 2 separate accounts. The proof will be if we ever need to use their service.

Brilliant service

Yes, you get a membership number each. The membership is for you so you are covered in any of your vehicles.

Someone said use a fake postcode. Not necessary - ADAC Plus is for non German residents.

We used them about a month back in Portugal - stuck in mud (snow chains nor griptracks properly got us out!), as Phil said ... you speak to an English speaking operator. And then sent a suitable rescue vehicle for a large motorhome.
