Last week I rang ADAC in Germany to get cover for the Motorhome, I must say I am very pleased with the service I received ,on ringing I was told their English speaker's were tied up and would ring me back. They called back and took me through the paper work and gave me all the detail's so that I could use the cover straight away.This morning the membership pack arrived and I will need my phrase book to read the details in full, but with the online site I think I can understand it.From the web site it seems to have quite a few other benefits as well,We took the ADAC PLUS that also gives my wife her own cover in any car van or motorhome, in the whole of Europe and UK.

Thanks for the post, we are also looking at breakdown cover for an trip around france/spain at the start of september. Can you say how much was your quote? We were quoted £285 by the AA for unlimited cover which is a bit steeeepp for a 5 week trip.

About 85 Euros.

I doubt whether you would find more comprehensive cover for emergencies (personal and vehicle) anywhere else.

They have an English web site that gives essential info on their offer

The ADAC membership cost Euro79.50 +23.30 for the plus cover that gives my wife her own card and independent cover.
You can get lower cost cover if you are a student and cover if you are disabled as well.If you go to the ADAC web site it translates in to English but you can't join on line, I tried then rang direct and asked for English speaking contact, and they rang me back,so no extra cost.There are other details on other threads under insurance breakdown.It covers you in the UK as well but they send the AA out to you,and on what ever motor you are in at the time.It's just great value for money.The web site is quite a read with other discounts ie ferry, car hire, food and petrol,but I am still reading it,

That's not correct - the ADAC Plus package for 79.50€ covers both you, your partner and your children.
 
My AA breakdown cover is up for renewal in October but I've begun shopping around, I just got a quote via Moneysupermarket from a company called start rescue - European Cover for £58. At one time I had Directline full cover costing £140 per year, when I called them out, on three occasions, I only ever got a breakdown truck, no attempt to fix by the roadside, one driver told me he knew nothing about cars he was just a driver. I'm just wondering what kind of service I'd get from startrescue?

ADAC Breakdown Cover

Like others, I sent an email to ADAC with my details and they telephoned me the same day and completed the application and credit card details. They telephoned me a second time on the same day to let me know my membership number. The membership card arrived about a week later.

If anyone has an English translation of the policy leaflet I would be pleased if they will let me know.
