Maybe everyone knew this, but I didn't so just in case anyone has missed it, ACSI now does digital cards and renewals any time (not just at the start of the year).

We are taking a last minute, unplanned break and I was kicking myself for not having renewed. Mr 001 said it's surprising they don't have a digital card so i checked out and they do; it goes on your devices and has a QR code the sites can scan. And my renewal is from 29th March to 28th March next year, no need to fret about being away over Christmas and not getting the new card.

Not sure if we would benefit if it is just a discount card in effect, does it work on aires too?
It is primarily aimed at those who want to stay on campsite out of season, go to their website and it will show which campsites offer a discount and the dates it operates.

@Pudsey Bear yes, it is really just a discount scheme. You pay for the year's membership then get discounts on participating sites, usually at off peak times. But before we knew about it, we paid a silly price on a campsite, where membership would have slashed the cost.

We aim to stay in places we want to visit - if there's an aire, great. If not, there might be an ACSI site. And, as @jacquigem says, sometimes you need laundry, electric or even someplace where you want to get out tables, chairs and the barbecue.

We have found that annual cost (under £20) gets recovered over a couple of nights worth of discounts. Surprisingly, quite a lot seem to be offering the discounted ACSI rate over the Easter weekend. I wasn't expecting that at all.

So, yes, we like it as another option to have.

£20 is peanuts.

What ud like to know is about using facilities in open season without staying overnight, I've not seen any data on rhat.

I may be wrong, but I'd think you are more likely to find these next to municipal campsites. Or, there are plenty of aires where you don't need to stay; just dump waste and fill with fresh water (for a couple of euros).
