Abernethy Forest Wildfire.

Bugger. Hope it is properly out and the campsite open by Monday.

Praying for a bloody big rain storm to dampen it down.
I think you will be fine, many businesses will be desperate to open when presumed safe to do so.

I would suggest you keep all valuables together and close to hand, and buy 1/2 pints at the Red Squirrel Bar 🍺

I forgot to mention, green algae signs up at the loch edge. Need some rain to clear all these issues away.

Now be a good chap Tony, and complete Sue’s to do list before even thinking about going for some R&R 🙈

But her list keeps getting longer!! I was allowed a couple of days off last week when we had grandkids up from Penicuik but it was back to the grind as soon as they went home which was when I really needed some R&R as they had chased me all over the place!

I feel your pain Tony!

They're under pressure as the latest up date is helicopters trying to assist to put out fires ,think some folk arrived at site and were turned away hope all are safe up there
Gogs, Bea said a msg on campsite FB page, site my not be open for Monday.

This wildfire has been horrendous for the area wild and plant life. Also loss to businesses and the loss of folks vacation 🙁

2 helicopters in action now and according to a guy from Nethy Bridge on Radio Scotland just now the fire is still not under control despite SNP saying it is constrained! I can’t see the camp site being open for quite a while yet.

Reccomendations please for somewhere else nearby for a MH and my daughter camping in a tent, before they all get booked (if not already too late)

No rain for Aviemore till Tuesday at the earliest and that ain’t going to be much. The Glenmore area always gets too busy at this time of year. There’s too much car parking resulting in too many sheeple and incidents like this. The Algae gathers in the shallow bay on the left of the beach where kids and dogs like to play🤢💩
Best avoided and explore the less trodden paths at this time of year. Weathers nice on Ardnamurchan apparently😏

If only it were that simple. When it's just us in the MH this would not be our choice and neither would staying 4 nights in one place. But it is a get together with our daughter as well who is having her first try at tent camping and wants us along to help and advise with that. We have also booked a few activities in the area like the zip line thing.

No space at Rothimurcus site, looking further afield.

Would Glencoe be too far, maybe the Red Squirrel Campsite or the main one at Glencoe.

Want to be in the vicinity. There are a couple more to phone first, we have some activities booked that should still be okay.

If you’re a member of whichever club it is there is a THS at Crathes near Banchory. Right beside the River Dee and loads to do in the area (buses to Aberdeen, Ballater, Braemar, Crathes Castle, Deeside Way cycle/footpath, pubs, etc). It’s on until 2nd August and is dirt cheap BUT there are no facilities except water so your daughter will need to use the van!! Plenty of spaces available there though and it truly is a beautiful setting right beside the river.

Bloke on the radio just now said if the public could see what they were doing to try to control the fire they would be so upset. Apparently they are clearing / bulldozing firebreaks all round the area to try to prevent the fire from spreading, even though it means ruining huge tracts of the beautiful forest and area round Loch Morlich.
The reindeer herd have all been let loose out on the mountain to look after themselves and keep away from the fire. But they are all fitted with trackers so hopefully they can be recovered afterwards.
