Just a word of warning for those intending to take the Galloway tourist road from Castle Douglas to Ayr - this is the A713.
Roadworks are taking place for about the next 5 or 6 weeks with a convoy system in place during the week but the road is closed completely over each weekend.
The work is getting done north of the village of Carsphairn.
We came down this route last week and found out all about the issues when we stopped at a lovely tearoom in Carsphairn – which is well worth a visit.
