A tip for Midges

marmite and skin so soft (not together!!)

first time I went to Scotland got eaten alive and came up with horrid itchy bites. Since then I've started eating marmite sandwiches (tip from a Scott) a couple of weeks before I go and spray the skin so soft body oil everywhere when i get there! Not been bitten since in past 8 years. Do hope they haven't changed the ingredients of the skin so soft tho as someone else has mentioned. I also spray the skin so soft on bits of kitchen roll and leave it hanging near windows in the van - seems to keep the midges away

i dont care what anyone says..... thick skin does the trick (spot the pun ) ....aww sod ya..... i know point me to the cloakroom

A tip for midges

Try Hair Laquer, more sporting, they seize up in mid flight.

I agree, that's great fun in the office or if there's only a few around. At times in Africa, there were so many we would just sit inside mosquito nets. :hammer:

I'm thinking of making an over-bed midgie net like the mozzy ones so that the roof vents can be open on warm nights (both of them ;)) but with a smaller mesh...unless anyone has found a mozzy net on sale that doesn't let midges through?

Even with the roof vent CLOSED they will get in the van any possible way, Door seal, Window seal fridge vent etc

one of the best ways to remove is a cordless or wired hand vac suck the buggers into that IMPORTANT them put the vac in a plastic bag and seal until the next day empty outside before moving off.

A Supply of Avon Spring fresh is in order

Would that be like spraying roses with washing up liquid so they slide of a break there necks?

Thanks Christine. Maybe I'll make one to cover the whole van and sitting area...

hmmmm.......and then have the yeast contraption, lots of incense sticks a-burning and be covered in Woodland SSSoft and Smidge to clobber the ones in the grass....wearing me balalclava :ninja:...eating pots of marmite....drinking pint after of guiness.....???

Even with all that, I bet one of the little buggers still gets in. :)

a tip for midges

im sitting here in cyprus putting ben's bite-ezer on my sore midge bites even tho i was covered in skin so soft, mind you my wife says my hands feel a lot softer

We made midge screens from the midge fabric for all the windows and vents we would likely want to open and stuck them on with velcro. They don't get through this stuff although as has been said, they get through any gaps not covered!

mossies

had this from aussie, LISTERENE in a spray bottle, squirt/spray it around the area you are sitting ie, decking, maybe even chair legs..........have yet to try it, too festering cold. Off to frogland in a couple of weeks, cant wait to zap em they love my misses! cant do any harm to give it a try ! P.S. DONT SPRAY IT ON YER PAINT WORK, not sure of the effect.
