Wear a hat - I have a solar cap (with a built in solar panel on the peak which powers 2 LEDs under the peak) and a good warm hand knitted beanie hatfor the winter.
I don't really use a hair dryer much at home, I tend to usually put my hair into a plait if it is wet before bedtime, it stays wet inside the plait till the morning but it is easier to manage when it's slightly damp. I often wear it tied back in a pony tail or clipped up with a spring clip when camping, if it's left loose, it ends up really badly knotted in the wind.
When it was really really short, I used to give my hair a quick wash using the hand soap and basins in pubs, service stations etc and then dry it under the hot air hand dryer.
The gas powered straighteners are ok for a quick tidy up and you could use them to take the worse of the wetness off your hair.
