I am looking for a little help with the fridge ,it was tested before we installed it in the van and it seemed to work fine on 240 when on the bench in the garage ,but its now installed in the van and has been on 240 all day its got warm at the back but dosent feel as cold as it did when on the bench .
Could this be due to the van not being level on the drive ?

any help or suggestions would be welcome

This type of fridge, an absorption fridge, has to be level to operate.

Park the van level and try again.

You also need to ensure that the flue and ventilation systems for the fridge are as specified by the manufacturer.

thanks for your help ,I have removed the fridge and checked out the vents ,I suspect its possibly due too it being not level on the drive need to buy some chocks .
while its out I have connected it too 240 on the bench in the garage and it went down to temperature no problem .

Thanks again

These may help with regards to cooling down the back of the fridge. Certainly if you are going abroad (Please note this is just one of many examples for sale on line, was the first on a Google Search ;) ). http://www.jaccampers.co.uk/fridge_accessories.htm
Have one fitted as standard on the Kontiki, so Swift must think it's a problem??????

Just for your info often people throw these fridges away as when stood unused for a long time the refrigerant air locks, all the heaters will work but it just wont get cold, turn it upside down for 24 hours and then once its the correct way up it will work again, just handy to know

there's not much to go wrong with these fridges,no mechanical moving parts etc,
just need to be level,or sometimes the burner needs replacing,
Solarman.

By "level" they generally mean - for modern three-ways anyway - within 6 Degrees front to back and 4 deg side to side so it isn't quite that critical because a van that far out of level would be just about impossible to live in.
Still, the more level, the better.
