20% off on DFDS Newhaven-Dieppe for over 60’s

In case this is useful to know…we just got £100 off our Newhaven-Dieppe crossing next week by making our booking by phone. That was a nice surprise. We’re in a campervan.
A couple of points for clarification; As long as one member of the party is over 60, the 20% reduction applies to all travellers in the party. The booking has to be made by phone because the reduction is funded by the local Chamber of Commerce, so not part of the DFDS Booking System , and has to remain separate under the Terms of the Agreement

The phone number connects automatically to the DFDS Contact Centre in France [pre-COVID, there was also an English Contact Centre and a separate 0800 number], but the French staff will happily switch to English to make the Reservation. The only real drawback is that the Contact Centre runs on CET, so will be 1 hour ahead, and will be closed on French Bank Holidays [Opening Times are on DFDS Website], but the hours of operation have been extended gradually since the COVID Restrictions were relaxed

Lastly, if you need to make a Reservation when the Contact Centre is closed, you can email DFDS [Website has details]. The automated response promises a reply within 5 working days [IIRC!], but if you enter 'Make a Reservation' or similar as the Heading and mark the email as 'High Prioriiy,, the Contact Centre will usually reply the following day

Yes its a great discount, surprised your crossing was so expensive though .
£500 before discount!
That’s interesting. How much would you expect to pay. (We booked today for next week.)

I think the no tuck traffic in France on a Sunday does this. We nearly always take the 1700 on a sat to FR, I can't do the 2300 as Im no good at doing 'shift driving' I just fall asleep!

yes saturday a good day to cross will be past bordeaux by mon morning back broken of trip ,

We booked Friday May 31st departure and a week later, Saturday 8th June back for £215 total. But we did book that in February. Our September holiday this year was the same price, we booked that in Feb too. Looking at that, I will never do a snap decision holiday.

Just to add to my Post #3 from last year, DFDS [Dieppe Chamber of Commerce] also extend the 20% discount to cabin bookings, even though they were originally excluded. Grabbing a shower before 3-4 hours sleep is a wee bonus!
