Hi'
Any suggestions, I have a 1988 Renault trafic 1.7 petrol with no spark, I was driving on the motorway with no problems then every so often it felt like it missed a beat after leaving the motorway it got worse til I pulled up and it did not start again. The RAC man said it was the coil so I fitted a new one but still no spark since then I changed the amplifier (I have managed to find 3 second hand ones) none of which improved matters i have also done the distributor cap + arm and leads still no spark. Battery is fully charged and starter turns over engine as normal. any ideas welcome.
Thanks
Nick

Sounds like a broken wire, but just thinking I. Sure a long time back we had problems with the ign lock electrical part at the rear of the switch melting ,I'm sure I'm correct but would not bet as it was a longish time back.good luck

Disconnect any loom wires from coil, then take a pos wire from battery to the non points side of coil, try turning her over looking for spark,if no spark change condensor or coil, also with multy meter see if the wire from coil to points is not broken,if so jump it to with a bit of wire and try again.
If she runs then there may be a fault in the loom feeding the coil from ign switch,or it could be at fault also, good luck.

Cannot see there being any of that clap trap on a vh of that year, more like two boy scouts rubbing a stick to get fire.
