Until 4 weeks ago, I had an Avtex L186DRS. Not the cheapest, but very good and it had a built-in satellite decoder. Bought from John Lewis (with their extended warranty) at a competitive price.

We just got a 19 volt TV from Currys works fine on 12 volt just cut off the the mains lead and with help from


Campervananny with the arial we got great picture
not sure on what it takes in power to use it but 3 days off grid is fine 😊
 
Another vote for Avtex, bought mine 2 years ago as part of a package along with an Oyster Caro dish from Jacksons satellites in Wakefield.
Low power usage on 12 volt and excellent picture. As previously mentioned not the cheapest but I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for.

We have a 12v model from Finlux it works well and was a competitive price.

There are plenty of cheepos on ebay as good as any from about £119 to £135 all 12 volt with dvd ,at about 100w they will draw about 8amps hour.
 
ive got the avtex 18 inch 12v 24v 240v pulls 40watt. they are supposed to be built
more robust for traveling. they have a quick tune button good picture and sound.
 
Hi Gordon, we went for Avtex. Bit pricey but a robust tv, dvd and satellite combination. The 40 watts swung it.

I also have the Avtex L187DRS.Excellent picture with good viewing angles and according to the BM1 battery monitor only takes an incredible 1.5A in tv mode.Not cheap but you get what you pay for,I had a cheaper Cello before that which I thought was decent until it developed a fault and I opted for a refund.The Avtex is better all round than the Cello and don't forget the Avtex customer service is legendary.

I have a Bush 22" LED TV, works off 12v and has done for over 4yrs without a regulated power supply, bought from Ebay brand new but it was a return as no sound so no warranty, I paid £40 because I use the sound from my satellite box straight into the van radio so sound was not a problem, upside is one of the speaker wires had a dry joint on the PCB so no sound out of either speaker, reflowed the joint and it is as good as new, it is 45W so doesn't use a great deal of power, I would never pay the premium for a dedicated motorhome TV, mine has bounced around in my wardrobe for 4yrs and still works perfect and it doubles up as a kitchen TV at home so it really has had 4yrs use
 
I've got an Avtex W164DR TV/DVD for sale if anyone interested? I'm located near Manchester Airport.

I bought an Avtex 16inch screen/dvd player with satelite built in for £160 from ebay. It had been used once only so I'm told by another motorhome owner.
We've had cheap flatscreen tv's before in our vehicles, but found most of them gave a sort of 'Haze' on the screen unless you are looking directly at it. So we are well impressed with the Avtex so far! :yeahthat:

I have the same TV (with DVD) in the Kitchen. Bought new £84.95.

Also have the 19" TV/DVD version in the van. £74.95 (bought from the same shop).

Both have good sharp pictures and wide viewing angles.
 
I tried to get the sub £100 one from Aldi last time it was on offer - at Easter this year I think. I went to 3 different branches, not a sniff. They probably only have a couple at each one to get the punters in.
I got a 22" Finlux via Amazon for just under £130, and it's been great. The only trouble is that it's no longer a current model on the Finlux website, they don't have any 12v ones at all now.
It looks as though the supposedly cheap site Rakuten have bought up the remaining stock, however the joke is that they're asking £159, £30 more than the original price from Finlux.
It's probably not a bad buy even at that though.
I don't know how Avtex sell any at their prices.
 
Had avtex in the past but never again.The so called quick tune takes over 5 minutes whilst on my £99 august set it takes less than a minute.The picture quality is superior on the avtex but to be fair we dont go away to watch TV all night.For the odd occasional use i am prepared to put up with a slightly inferior set which is a quarter of the price.
