Possible option ....
LED Strips on roll with adhesive backing stuck alongside awning length.
These typically have a 4 pin connector if you get an RGB (multi-colour) strip which you can attach once awning is out (or maybe connect to arms?). These strips also usually come with a Remote Control that allows you to adjust the lights and turn them on and off remotely. The Remotes are usually IR Remotes (like a TV) but sometimes Wireless so don't need to point.
You can also replace the receiver with a WiFi or Bluetooth version so you can control via a Smartphone.
To provide 'pluggable power' I fitted a Magcode socket and plug - Magcode 12 Volt DC Power Connector Magnetic Only Live When Connected (Power Port & Power Clip): Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike

The lights and remote can be found for under a tenner. The Magcode is quite pricey if you needed this solution (I looked for ages to find something as good for less and couldn't)

I use this solution with my CaravanStore Rollout Awning and found it worked well.

I've been fitting my mh out with warm white led tape under the unit pelmets zoned to one remote. Next job is rgb tape to do some mood lighting in the gaps between tops of wall units and ceiling. 14 million colour variations. Will be nice. I took away that silly square box halogen light from beside my motorhome door and fitted a Fiamma gutter above the door which has a built in led so does 2 jobs. I have a Kampa air awning and bought 2 of their led Sabre tubes but these turned out not to be necessary as the Fiamma light is more than bright enough to illuminate whole awning. Simple enough to fit a controller into the wiring with rf remote (does not need line of sight and only around £12 together) to dim it etc if need be. Easy to fit and worth a look imho. Bob.

You can buy led remote control lanterns which can be charged via usb,if i could only remember where i seen them, old age creeping in.

This on ebay no 122989117848 at £13.99

Your avatar suggests that you might have an old awning light. If so, perhaps you could do what I did when my the starter circuit of my Labcraft awning light gave up the ghost. I removed the awning light from the van, removed the started and tube from the inside of the light fitting, pared all the plastic bits down to leave a flat back inside. I then screwed a 45° triangular cross section wooden strip to the back and stuck two 3-LED SMD5730 self-adhesive modules (12v nominal voltage) to the wooden strip. This gives approx 300 lumens of light for 3W (0.25A). I got the LED modules from eBay (e.g. this listing)

Thanks

Yes
I have a switch(es) inside the hab door and the wiring to a location outside but just under the awning iss still in place.
The original light had two components a spotlight and a floodlight both not too bright.
One part is still there but I have taped it all up to keep it waterproof.
Have not taken off the remains of the old light yet... waiting to get the replacement.

I think one of the switches controls an internal footlight and the light which fell off
the other switch controls the remaining light which works but gives little light now as it is all taped up

I know LED strips are all the rage but I fear that the would not fix properly due to the aircraft effect when driving at 50mph

SO There are exiting terminal blocks to wire into

We are on the road all summer to DIY facilities are limited
I have a multimeter and I can "manufacture" coverings by cutting up something like a suitable plastic food box and indeed this might also give a "porch effect"
