Hi

LIDL currently have a few 12V items that could be of interest to motorhomers.

First off a battery charger for AAA or AA batteries. I bought one last time they had them in and it's an excellent little charger that has both mains and 12V leads - £12.99

12V Fan 14cm diameter comes with rubber sucker & 2M cable £4.99

12V car adaptor with 2 x12V sockets and 1 USB socket £3.99

Thanks for that, I could use a couple of those things, now all I've got to do is find an excuse to get BH there (streaky pork should do it!!) and sneak them into my shopping trolley!! :ninja:

Don't forget 1 euro/pound for your trolley. LIDL is slowly becoming a motorhoming institution wherever you go in Europe you'll find motorhomes in the car park

We have one permanently to hand on the dashboard!! Sadly it is £1, not a Euro, as our abroad days are over now due to ill-health. Know what you mean, it's very rare to go in an Aldi/Lidls carpark without at least one other motorhome there!! Motorhomers obviously like value for money.

This was Lidls in Helston, last year!

Aah I hope you manage some more time abroad, if not enjoy it here. After all we are still lucky enough to have some wonderful isles here...

I think the LIDL/ALDI thing is the recognition of items whatever the language or country. A couple of weeks ago I was in a rare north wales Lidl and parked up and headed in to get some provisions. Coming out there were 4 more motorhomes parked up, including one French and one Belgium.

I always print off the locations of Lidls and Aldi when we go off, just in case I can't get on the internet! Porthmadog is brilliant, it has an Aldi and a Lidls almost next to each other!! Also a big Tesco where you can get cheap fuel and park for up to 3 hours. Bit tight for larger motorhomes though!

If you have a Tom Tom you can download the POI's for their stores on the Tom Tom Home website (plus many other supermarkets etc). I believe that you might even get them nowadays from the Aldi and Lidl websites.

That's because LIDL is the Patron Saint of Motorhomes.:dance::dance:

I have a plastic disc, infact two from Germany which I use for the trolleys. Also a € coin in my change pocket.

I got a vacuum pump action jug flask at Lidl for £12.99 a few weeks ago, it holds 2 litres and it's been worth its weight in gold already. I fill it up with boiling water when I leave home and it stays hot for a good 12 hours if not opened, and then when I want to brew up, I use the water and it boils in seconds and then I keep it topped up when I park up for the night using the storm kettle (free hot water). I've always got hot / warm water to brew up or wash hands/face. I definitely recommend them, apparently they are usually about double that price.

I have a 12v fan in the dog's cage for hot weather, I used to run it off a power pack but now I run it off leisure battery. It's peace of mind for those hot days when he has to stay in the van.

Absolutely fantastic these, I had a couple one of the banks were throwing out as they were scratched (and they've got plenty of money!!) I was working in London at the time and living in a caravan out in the sticks.

Every night I'd fill them with boiling water to take home, using their power!! I also had all me rechargeable s in the rucksack connected to a multiway outlet, so I could recharge during the day by plugging my backpack into the mains.

In summer, I used to fill with ice cold water from the fridge. A plastic food box could take quite a few ice cubes and if you use the blue freeze blocks, place them in a freezer bag, they'll last for ages, Ideal for G&T's

Don't forget the 20-60x spotter scope in Aldi for 25squid.

& the 18 year old "Glen Marnoch" single malt whisky for 20 squid - a good single Malt for the price of a decent blend.

& the Highland Earl Blended Scotch for around 12 squid which is very similar to Ballantynes, my favourite blend.

I also just bought an LED head torch, great for walking the dog or looking in dark cupboards - cost me 2.99 - reduced I think as old stock!

I used to like Netto's too but they're hopeless since Asda bought them out.

Hi Smaug,

Not seen the Glen Marnoch for a while. Do they still sell it.

Richard

Lidl's Hatherwood bitter is good Only £2:65 for six 75ml cans. That's the same price as a pint in these parts.

They had they 12yo & 18yo in a couple of weeks back, we grabbed a bottle of the 18yo :cool1:

But we're just back from a trip to Islay where we spent 8 days wilding & 200 squid on squiffy! :scared:

I didn't know they still did Hatherwoods, I've never been a great fan of tinned beers, but Hatherwoods is quite moreish.
