Thanks trev. Next question how does he join them. 👋 👋
Here you go spade connectors, buy the blue ones as they take thicker wires, you will require a crimping set of pliers, some times these can be bought as a all in kit, very handy in a m/home and around the house.

Many thanks to all for advice. I'm definitely going to upgrade ye olde socket with one that gives power, usb, and a voltmeter. Hopefully I'll find one to accomodate a coax point as well. I've also joined Motorhomer without buying a crimping tool.

Fit a antenna booster beside the usb socket, hard wire from antenna and it has a socket on the bottom for tv and radio.

Are those the Linux version of proper ratchet crimping pliers?

;-)

Hey Nabsim so there is an adaptor. I quite like this solution as it's cheap and simple, plus you can get a 12v tv which also has USB ports and a voltmeter built in.

Yes, it is a quick and easy solution and you can use the plug for other items as well. Updating sockets is the ideal but this will work until you are ready to do anything else 👍

Moving on, does anyone have advice on the best way to mount a tv bracket in an old Ford Duetto?

I would add a word of caution here .....

Watch out for bargain cable crimpers on eBay!
I was looking for some to sell at shows to go with the various electrical products I do - and wanted some cheapish ones as they were likely to be used for just the one installation.
I paid around the £5 mark for some that looked identical to the basic but good RS ones I have had for 40 years - and when they arrived they shortly went into the bin - plain dangerous! very thin metal with jaws that didn't meet but slid one over the other, causing cuttng of wires and connectors instead of making a crimp.

Also, those pure pressure crimpers give variable results even when the tool is decent. For someone who is new to electrics, it is a better option to spend a bit - but not a lot - more on Ratchet Crimpers. Much more consistant a result.
I find these good and actually have 3 pairs now - https://amzn.to/3tzaWXv

Buy Blue Connectors? hmmmm. Buy connectors that match your cables! Blue suits between 1.5mm2 - 2.5mm2; Red suits 1mm2-1.5mm2; (and Yellow is 4mm2-6mm2). Match the connector to the cable.
The best thing for a newby operator is maybe a set like this - https://amzn.to/30YQH9z - to give a suitable connector in all cases. May have lots left over but at least you can get on with an install

Nice price trev. I'm thinking more about the mounting. What am I drilling/screwing into? How long and what type screws etc.

Would it hang from the underside of an overhead locker?

Removed for travelling though.

Think it would help if you put up a few pics of where you want to mount it for folk to help. And what thickness of the board its going into. Trevs good but a bit of help let's the forum come up with a plan. Gerry

Well there's an area where a tv is meant to go with a pull down flap revealing the coax point and power socket, including a 240v socket. If I try and mount a bracket in that area I just don't know what's behind. Just around the corner is the 'wardrobe' which looks to be made of solid oak but I don't want to have to stow the tv on the move. Otherwise we could just have a tv on a stand somewhere. I have googled extensively and fruitlessly.

Hi Gerry, I'll do that when the van is back. MOT, habitation etc. at the mo so won't have it for another week or so. You'd think the autosleeper owners forum might have info on this but seemingly not.

I'm hoping that when we get the van back I'll discover some nice oak board behind the wall covering just like yours and if so all will be good. That's a lovely job by the way on the inside of yours. Very swish.

Well my immediate solution is this. I discovered that the obsolete 12v power socket is Clipsal rather than Senate, but I've found a Clipsal to ciggy socket adaptor (Adapt-it 3). Then I've got an Avtex tv which includes 2 USB ports and a built-in voltmeter so we can check the state of the leisure battery.
