It seems that “off grid” is now the trendy term for campsites that call themselves eco friendly with a site offering a non electric grass pitch near Abersoch for £38 a night.

So join the eco friendly world and be among fellow eco friendly campers who are extremely happy to pay more for the bare minimum. Sounds like a plan!

To be fair I have always thought of Abersoch as somewhere visited by wealthy Mancunians so maybe £38 is the going rate in this part of wales.

As a challenge who can locate the most expensive “eco friendly” off grid grass pitch in the U.K. for 2 adults.

Wow! So basically you pay full wack prices for what you would pay for an all singing and dancing site with ehu, nice showers and probably a pool so you can crap in a compost toilet and do your own recycling? Wish I'd thought of it. 🤣

All our CLs are off grid boggy basic and many a tenner a night or less. I bet there is no shortage of mugs booking up though.

Think wee paid £60 a night last week for four nights on a site £240 and £8 for a pint of crap beer. But I got to go doon the water slide 6 times with my teenage daughter who laughed her head off at her daft dad. money cant buy that. some people who live in castles think they need to live in a field for a few days now and then and they’ll pay for the experience for them the things we take for granted as everyday experiences but for them its worth paying a little extra too look like they are normal for a night light a fire eat baked beans shitte in a bucked. Then drive home to there castle in there 100k Range Rover.

We have stayed at Amboise on 2 holidays now, Wully, and it has become part of our standard banter to look across to the Chateau that is on the opposite side of the river, and say, 'Bet there's no-one in the Chateau, looking longingly across at the site and thinking, 'That'd be a nice place to stay ...' ' :ROFLMAO:

People accuse me of lacking ambition; not true, just that I started at the bottom and found I quite liked it ...

We live in a country that on the whole wants to do three things to us.
Stop us from doing what we all love, tell us to use campsites (even when most are closed for half the year), and rip us off when we do go to campsites.

Its very depressing I know, but rip of Britain is alive and kicking, and there are plenty out there who are willing to pay not only these charges, but annual fees to the two big clubs in order to prevent even higher charges, and reluctantly I include myself amongst them :(

But on the bright side there are some decent deals out there in summer, we booked Dunbar CCC site grass only £17 a night. And in winter there are some good prices. We head to Braithwaite Village in the Lake District, next winter £23 a night, hard standing with EHU, and the best facilities I have yet to see on any campsite to date.

I’ve just paid £155 for 3 nights on one site and £100 for 2 nights on a different site grass no EHU on the south coast in August for 3 adults I don’t think it’s that bad though it was cheaper when my granddaughter was under 16. 😂

Went to Germany early June. Used 3 sites, all 45 Euro a night, that's for 3 people, 6 m van 1 bivi tent, no EHU.
All only took cash too, I think the Germans are on to something!

Campsite in Belgium was much the same price for 2 and no tent, but only 20 min walk to Brugge centre.

Well, well Mark, that a real shocker. And this from the country who are well known for loving the outdoors.:(

I know we all moan about prices on campsites but we should compare like for like you cannot compare a winter price for a couple with a height of the summer for a family of 4, I think I got a reasonable deal £155 for 3 nights on the south coast in August I tried a campsite in Devon Torquay area came in at nearly £300 for the same 3 nights so it pays to shop around and dates is crucial.

Annie last year we went to the NEC for the show.
I booked a Travelodge hotel near Birmingham airport for £75 inc breakfast.
You are paying £52 a night for a pitch.
And I was not comparing summer prices with winter.
All I was doing was to highlight that there are great deals in winter, and we enjoy going out in winter.
Annie I am paying £656 for 21 nights in 10 CCC sites in August.
We are heading as far south as Salisbury, and we are staying 50/50 with and without EHU.
Thats £31 a night, I reckon thats reasonable.
But if you reckon that £50 a night is reasonable, thats fair enough Annie.
Sorry Annie but I reckon it's a rip off.
And I know you are three adults to our two, but thats another issue.
As part of the August trip we are are going to Delamere forrest, were there are no facilities, but they still charge per person :(
