I imported from Germany, I bought continental masks for UK use and at first MOT they tried to mask the lights to make them work, very helpful they were, but nothing worked so I had to buy UK lights at about £200 a piece (back in 2009 that was). It is only a ten minute job to swap them over so...
How do we police ourselves eh?. At Marazion in Cornwall a guy was parked , basically for the season,. on a wide footpath, I suggested (nicely) explaining what would probably happen if he did, that he move on occasionally. He told me in no uncertain terms to mind my own business. I explained...
Drain occasionally and refill, in Bodmin not much chlorine in water but never drink, though, but do clean teeth with it but no problem in 17 years from new. We also are careful to only use official drinking water taps and where taps are clearly separated from taps for other purposes though have...
"Somewhere on here is a thread about someone being put out when he went to spot he always had to himself only to find it full of vans"
I omitted to say, in that post, that the trip that was spoilt by over occupancy was supposed to be a rather special trip being a replacement for a 55th...
You should have seen the state of the new house we stayed in as our first b&b near Dublin when I was delivering a boat to NI in the seventies. I could hardly believe it, switches working wrong lights, cold out of hot tap and vice versa, I will have forgotten most of it. I wondered if it was...
We had driven nearly 40 miles to take that ferry trip across the sound and that car park was the only one from which we, in our current state of health, could access the trip planned. So we felt justified in squeezing in. Our wagon is 15 years old but we strive to keep it in an apparently...
Felling suitably chastened I remembered last time I was made to feel that way by replies on this forum when a bit of research removed that chastened feeling, so I decided to do just that. Some of my findings are listed below so I now feel quite at liberty to have taken the steps I have done...
Yes backed myself into a tight spot havn't I but I can't help feeling aggrieved that the nice spot has been spoiled. and will probably be ruiined by height barriers etc because of over use and use by careless and thoughtless parkers; that is what I am complaining about.
I take your point r4dent but it is a torch and has only ever been used as one but it is a possibility. It has been seen by several police officers in France and never once queried, and why should it be?
Apart from the abuse issue it is mainly the ease of finding a spot to over use, creating a resason for the LA to put in place restrictions that I complain about.
I keep a great big maglight torch with 6 u2 batteries and a wrist strap by the door in clips, great club and entirely legal. Never needed it in17 years but you never know.
The other day we pulled up to one of our favourite spots where we are usually the only motorhome and as we approached, I was pleased to note that there were no height barriers yet as I suspect there will be soon. However, I was dismayed to note that there were four wagons there already (one an...
