Morrisons ( REFUSE TO FILL LPG)

Gaslow gauges are at best an indication to my mind though the second one I had fitted wis better than the first. My tanks are in a locker near the filler cap where my water filling hoses and tools for extracting it also live.

The old gauges were hopeless but the new ones are pretty accurate. I think they are maybe half a litre or so pessimistic but a pretty good indication. Not that it matters. If I am off grid I just know how much I am using. We always used to have a bet how much it would take at fill up and one of us is usually correct within a litre.

Just had a lengthy debate at Morrison Livingston when they refused to fill my system ,I would not move off the forecourt and caused a in house at till queue as I stood my ground awaiting head office call me
Sad to say they would not refill my system even though I pointed out the system is recognised by the mcc etc here's their e mail to me
Gonna ask the mrs to not buy ought from them nooooooo

Hiya im having the same issue im arguing the fact that they are indirectly discriminating againt a group of people an manufacturers and disabled people putting them at a disadvantage. ive got a formal complaint in i suggest escalating it past anas. He is ignorant and generic with his response. Im in communication with Equality Advisory Support Service they are advertising that there is a case that thier policy is indirectly discriminating. Ive also contacted the manufacturers i have the campko hybrid refillable tank 30l black they are also advising me regarding the complaint as they are in disbelief that thier tank is being refused. Morrisons excuse is because the tank is removable i can no longer fill it at any of thier pumps. This is the response from the EqualityAdvisorySupport to help us with the complaint.

Dear Craig,
Thank you for your call to the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) back regarding your issue.
I can see from Morrison’s response to you that they are following their Health and Safety policy in regards to not filling your LPG tank.
This could mean that the issue may fall under the statutory authority exception, as Statutory Authority allows organisations to comply with other laws, so where other laws are present and the characteristic is age, disability, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation then the Equality Act cannot intervene. It states in the Act in Schedule 22 the following:
A person does not contravene the Act with regards to certain protected characteristics if the discriminatory act is done in pursuance of a requirement of an enactment.
This means that an individual would be unable to take a complaint under the Equality Act where the statutory authority exception applies. Simply put this is when the organisation has acted in accordance with another law. In adhering to specific laws organisations have to conduct themselves in a specific way as failure to do this could lead to a breach in that law.
E.g. Health & Safety Assessments, Risk Assessments, Data Protection Checks, Benefit Applications, the Equality Act etc.
You could still choose to raise a formal complaint of indirect discrimination if you wish, and to that end, please find attached our template letter for indirect discrimination in services.
Indirect discrimination is defined as:
A person (A) discriminates against another (B) if A applies a provision, criterion or practice which is discriminatory in relation to a relevant characteristic of B’s
In this instance the Health and Safety policy prevents Morrison’s from refilling your refillable LPG bottle which is used in your motorhome for heating. As a disabled person, this refusal has left you without any heating in your home. This policy may affect disabled people in general as the refillable bottle is a more accessible way of filling the LPG rather that having to remove and replace pre-filled heavy bottles.
If you complete the letter you would then return it to Morrison’s and they would then have 14 days to reply. After 14 days, if you have had no reply, or if you receive an unsatisfactory reply you could look at legal advice on escalating your complaint as you do have 6 months minus 1 day from the incident date to do so. This can include making a discrimination claim to a County or Sheriff Court.
If you go to the following link for Law Works, enter your postcode and select ‘civil litigation’ from the drop down menu, it will then list your nearest free legal advice service who should be able to assist you further:
I hope this information is helpful. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us again.
Kind Regards
Deborah

There seems to be some ambiguity from the staff at Morrisons. I see the post from Mistericeman and then I look at the signage up in the garages now. There is a disconnect! The signage only refers to cylinders. The poster on Facebook also received this email which implies that fixed tanks are good to go. So between the post by Mistericeman and the post on a motorhome page on Facebook, there is a big difference! I am confused... Although the sign does say the use of adapters is not allowed!
I just read this then looked at Faceb**k then this came up

I got.that reply first I've even got the manufacturer to confirm I have a LPG tank and not a cylinder but thier excuse it that because its removable its not allowed unfortunately that doesn't justify the policy when manufacturers have designed the tanks to.be fill this way.

I suspect you'll find that if it's their insurance company that is being awkward (completely understandably after events)

And much like most retail environments..... The retailer is free to choose to refuse a customer for a raft of reasons

Then you will be getting told to vote with your feet....

We always used to have a bet how much it would take at fill up and one of us is usually correct within a litre.

If one of you guesses and then the other guesses 2 litres more then your combined spread bet covers 4 litres.

BTW. I have an algorithm in my spreadsheet that incorporates things like EHU availability and month.
I also have a small Calor propane just in case. Only had to resort to the Calor once and that was because two stations in Spain closed for the Saints day.

I don't have refillable gas tanks simply because it's not viable for me, I use so little gas I'd never get my money back.

There seems to be constant issues with refillable's

But new Auto Sleepers have on board tanks, do vans manufactured with tanks have these issues?

Yes they certainly do with Morrison f g

So if I’ve got this right Gordon the Auto-Sleeper Burford Duo has a 25l gas tank which is equivalent to 10kg of gas. Where as my existing van holds 2 x 13kg bottles. ( I only carry 1 )

That’s fairly pants tbh, if filling the thing is a headache.

What I don’t understand is what’s the difference between a Motorhome tank and an LPG cars tank?

Exactly my argument,I've spoke to this guy called anus at mfg ,their customer service dept, told them we're taking legal advice/actions but they don't care it's their ball and their rules
I honestly think they are phasing out lpg all together kev

I keep looking at going all electric Gordon, I reckon with the Eco Flow and its extra batteries if I chuck in a Fogstar 628 ah I’ll have 1,138 ah with the portable solar added onto the vans I have 895w Even SWMBO can’t kill that in 5 days at a race meeting

Kev I have a variable induction hob which runs off the Vtoman as does my shore power hook up I treat the power I have gently got various recharge lights inside lounge area ,small fan heater which if I use properly it's quite frugal on power ,I have a canister table top stove with six canisters I carry spare ,microwave off the Vtoman ,I have the Vtoman solar panels they're great but to be honest a tad big n heavy but work well,it might not suit all but we mange well with this set up,our gas is two big alugas lpg bottles auto shut offs not cheapbut very very light in weight if I ran heating on and water heater etc I can get over a week on one bottle
The reason I got the power banks is if I change vans which I did a few on the trot it meant I never spent loads on vitron ,lithium etc just me but as I say suits us

Update everyone 1:12 min still on hole they are ignoring me🤣

It's not like I've even got hair to wash in the shower...
(And I'm tempted to run my clippers over her head whilst herself asleep to save her using so much water/gas)
You will save on water and gas but the messy divorce might be costly🤣
I hope you'll stick a post up about it when you do ;-)
I would say there is more chance of Barry sticking a long post up than getting Trev to bang on about Linux
