Rubbish disposal

Half the times bins here are never emptied by council and have many bags of rubbish beside them, then the gulls and crows bust them open looking for food.
The councel should fine the crows & gulls, dirty sods. šŸ˜‚

I was always amazed when on campsites the amount of tuggers that would regularly come out of their caravan with a huge black bin liner full of rubbish.

It must have stunk to high heaven o_O:eek:o_O:eek:

TBH, I don't know how you guys manage to create so little waste! We go through half a roll of kitchen towel per day just wiping off pots, pans, crockery etc. prior to washing up (so we don't end up with the sink drain being clogged), and then there's the packaging the food comes in... and take-aways mean even more waste. We have little black bags (think dog-poo size) that we fill, tie off and then keep in a bigger bag for disposal the next time we're at a campsite, motorway services, etc.

Same here Geoff, we store it in the garage until we find somewhere appropriate to dump it. But before travelling we remove as much packaging as possible, that helps.

It's the packaging that's the problem. We have dogs to do the pre-wash and eat any left-overs. The only time we eat junk food is when eating out, so they have to dispose of the rubbish.

I noticed in France this year a lot of the bins were controlled by apps. As in you needed an app to get into the flaming things. I never got it to work. It seemed to have backfired though as people were simply leaving bin bags next to the bins. We didn't.

On our last CL in south Devon the bins were a disgrace. So much so I refused to add to them so dumped our rubbish at public bins, garage bins etc. Its not that big a deal to take a carrier bag of rubbish out with you and find a bin for it.

Don't dump anything with your name and address on
Is it OK for truckers to dispose of their butty bags

As most of it comes from supermarkets or garages etc, that is where we bin it, Ireland is the worst place due to their waste management systems, but still doable. Make sure packaging is torn into small pieces for less bulk, I buy black vest carrier bags off eBay £4 per 100 so we never have a big load.

You are liable to a substantial fine regardless of how small the amount is, if it is deemed 'household'.
The Blackbelt Barrister did a piece on this after a woman was interviewed under caution for disposing of an envelope in a public bin. The crazy thing is that, in his analysis, it might be the case that envelope was not 'controlled waste' because 'controlled waste' includes waste from a household or caravan and that envelope came from the post office, was opened on receipt and never got as far as her home!
That said, we always cut out and/or redact any personal data before putting letters etc. into rubbish or recycle bins.

We dont want your rubbish, just your money. šŸ˜‚

Folk up up here use street bins because the council went from one week to fortnight bin collections, problen then is house bin is full at week one and if the lid wont close the truck wont lift it, so a house with kids filling bins fast what are we supossed to do with it, hence many go out and fill street bins.

'They' pulled that stunt in Cornwall and we went from a massive, 'seagull-proof' black bag collected weekly to a fortnightly wheelie bin alternating with recycling with food waste collected weekly. Trouble is that many homes produce more than one wheelie bin full a fortnight and the council will only allow you a second or larger bin under 'exceptional' circumstances. So .... rather a lot of people are now having to make routine trips to their local waste transfer stations, and the resulting queues waiting to enter the station caused gridlock on the adjoining roads. So ... the council decided that people need to book a 30-minute slot to go to the waste transfer station and later reduced the speed limit on the road that many people use to get to the waste transfer station, causing holdups that cause many people to 'miss their slot'...

... and then the council wonder why the fly-tipping problem has got worse!

Best solution is for folk to take ther garbage and leave it outside council head quarters, they will soon revert back to one week collections.
