Bushfires, Northern Portugal.

Very sorry to hear about the bush fires. I had been thinking about the poor folks on holiday in Spain as well.

Still isolated fires, up north.
Red for burning.
Green for not burning, but under supervision.
Grey for safe.
Orange.. first reports

Pedragao Pequeno has had four fires and one very near us but ok so far! Feel for those close to them

The government is paying compensation to the affected landowners, next week.

It makes me suspicious about how these remote locations suddenly burst into flames.
Why wait years for the pine and eucalyptus, ( an explosive mix), to mature enough to cut them down, as a cash crop ?
Money today, or logs tomorrow.?
I think the fire season will end with the onset of rain.

Spoke too soon.
Down here in the Algarve, there are strong Northerly winds, veering all round the compass.
It's hard to make any predictions.
There's a lot of clouds coming from the N. and N.E.
