What do you cook when one of you is gluten intolerant? Hubby is, and loves his bread! We have been taking tesco's part baked multi grain sourdough baguette which he's okay on.

2 thousand years or more it was free, you could maybe get some free at local church. 😂

If you want real soughdough from a supermarket instead of imitation soughdough, then I would recommend M&S, we do also have Lidl and Morrisons, but they are pale imitations.

Think I'm missing out no MnS near ,lidle is next door , just nipping out for a soughdough loaf for mi home made carrot n coriander soup

When we were in Israel we traveled thought the desert to Jerusalem.
A local told us that when his people left the desert they went to "a land of milk and honey"

He then said "If we'd gone the other direction we would have found "a land of oil".
"Then we could have sold the oil and bought milk and honey, and had some cash left over for big cars !"

Our nearest Lidl is just a couple of hundred yards from a M&S, so we can get the bread from M&S and rest of shop from Lidl, although for the last 6 months I've been doing shopping at the Lidl nearest to the hospital and 'make do' with their bread, it's certainly better than in many other shops.
SiL often visits a local market where a couple do their own cakes and sourdough bread, she brings us back some, Gf loves it, I prefer M&S.

As the question came on the European part I imagine this may also apply to EU. I am very intolerant of wheat and find it not too much of a problem. Bread is a potential problem but in UK most big supermarkets stock it. In France there is a good selection of all gluten free goods, however when I was last there I really needed to order the loaf of bread, some of it goes back to the sponge type of bread as it was years ago. Although I was last in France two years ago I hope that things are even better by now. The main clue is to read the ingredients as we have to here! One note is that the ancient wheat, spelt, is something which many with intolerances can eat, If you like French crepes you need to have the Galette which is the savoury version and the mix can be used for sweet crepes too. I have had a few strange looks but so far no problem. Good luck!

Most shop bought stuff does get quite challenging when toasted I agree but my sister's is pretty good TBF. Kim used to make white sourdough and that was utterly brilliant to toast but her hands have suffered lately with RA so she doesn't make it anymore ☹️. Probably wouldn't be as good if she started making it again cos she's lost her starter now.☹️☹️
