can any one help me i have a talbot express kontki. i want to put a boxer cab on the front, would like to no iff anyone done this before and would be greatful for any infomation :)gaz

I think you maybe need to give more details such as the year, I would suppose anything is possible but the costs & time involved could make it impractical. Why are you thinking of doing it  Is the Talbot cab beyond repair?
I think the Kontiki is built on an Alko chassis so it is just bolted to that, not sure how the rest of the body is attatched

watch chop shop, pimp my ride and other similar shows you'll soon see anything can be acheived:)

I would have thought it would be easier to sell your Kon-Tiki and get a boxer based van. :)

What's your motivation for wanting to swap just the cabs over???

Looks like a nice job, good idea to switch to the crew cab type chassis if theres more than two of you. Most motorhomes aren't that great for passengers in the seating area for travelling.

not out of the question but unless you have access to a workshop and some specialised tools it will be difficult not a weekend on the drive job

Cab Change on your Swift Kontiki from Talbot Express to Boxer/Newer Ducato, any info/

Hi there did you manage to update your cab from a TALBOT express type to a boxer type? I have a Talbot Express type Kontiki and I would very much like to do the same. The Talbot Express cab is so dated and old, whilst you can buy a tidy 2.8 Turbo Diesel Ducato, circa 2000 for £1500. Can you chop weld and cut and bolt? Does anyone know if you can and how?

i would say a chassis change is not beyond the cabability of some one with some mechanical skill and time and a bit of nouse, it has been done on here and by some others , as the m/home body is bolted to a pickup chassis .but a cab change onto an alco chassis ,i would say that you would have to have in your case a ducato pickup chassis then cut of the rear off the pick up ,then remove the old cab off your m/home i belive its bolted on, and then rebolt the chassis to the new cab . easy to say but you will need to line the cab and chassis perfectly thats the hard bit also i woud asume that the rear of the cap is reinforsed somewhat , you only need to be a few mill out ether way and you have got trouble .when they are made at the factory i would assume the cab and back are put on a jig of some sorts to get perfectly straght . after that everything will be straght forward re piping the brakes then all the wiring to replace and the sealing of the rear to the cab after you have cut the back of the cab out to allow you get into the back, its a big job i would say and if it goes wrong you will have ruined your van .
