Any recommendations for a cool box on the market that does not drain your battery too much. Thanks in advance

I had one once and it consumed the equivalent of a single headlight on Main beam. To test it I left it plugged in overnight
and the following morning the battery was flat.

Aldi have one for sale on Sunday £40, I have had one of these from Aldi to give years and still working well, they are all heavy on batteries but I unplug mine at night and it is still cold the next morning

Waeco compressor cool box runs just over 1/2 AMP, their is also highly insulated non power cool box that keeps frozen for days

Just bought one today from Aldi, seems pretty damn good

The spec sheet tells me that the power consumption @12v cooling =47w, heating =39w
220v eco setting =6.2w, cooling at max =55w, heating at max =39w.

In my garage along with all the other stuff I no longer use is a three way cool box. If anyone is interested I can measure it and give more specs.

Interested

I would be interested, just let me know the details please.

The Aldi store in Felling, Gateshead only had one of these left when I called there today, so they seem to have been very popular.
Think it was £39?

We don't need one, so I left it for some other lucky person :)

Also bought one for one of the trucke without a fridge Chris ,well it’s got one knackered s9 at the spec n price no brainier imho esp with 3yrs warranty

Problem with them is they only cool 20c below amb temp,so if its 30c in van then it will be 10c in box,to stay safe all food should be cooled to 2c,hope this helps.

If the inside of the van is 30 degrees, you won't want a cool box pumping out even more heat! It's best left in the shade outside unless you are driving.

Two degrees is a bit too cold for a fridge. Between three and five is optimal, but anything under seven is OK.

I have fridge thermometors here which are marked at 2c optimal, not much point leaving cool box outside when im driviing as it will get dragged along the road by the cable.:scared::lol-053:

I thought about this last year and done loads of research and in the end opted for a passive ice box that does not need any electricity.

We brought a Waeco Cool-Ice which is a super insulated box which you fill with Ice. We left the UK with a few bags of Ice and a couple of frozen meals and it was still Ice when we crossed the Spanish border 4 days later - really really good and couldn’t recommend highly enough.

Its easy to find bags of ice in garages and supermarkets and for a euro a bag we just buy a bag every few days to keep things cool.

They are expensive, and there are better brands on the market but for us it has been perfect.

One tip if anyone is thinking of buying one - once you have your ice packs/bags inside and your food fill all the remaining space with crunched up newspaper, this removes as much air as possible and keeps the box cooler longer.

Hi ldvconvoy. Don - Trying to contact you but my pm's do not seem to be going through. I need some info before DPD will collect. Meg
