I have bought a 3 PAYG 4G Trio Data SIM Pack Preloaded with 12GB of Data Three Sizes to use as a Nano Sim in the ipad,I would like to occasionally use the nano sim in our laptop, is this feasible I have looked for a dongle to carry the nano sim but don’t find one

That's what the trio part is about,

you break the sim out of the larger frame,

but go slowly they look fiddly to break out.

Most SIMS you push out sections to make the SIM the size you need. So keep the one you need as a conversion mount. (If it came as a NANO Size, get hold of a PAYG SIM to nick the bit off :)

It’s easy to put the sim back in the frame to use a larger sim it’s better to put a strip of sellotape to save it coming out I have the same sim pack ( in fact I had the previous 24GB 24 month pack ) and swap between IPad and phone.

Tom, we got a mi fi type little router and it will power quite a few things at the same time.
If you do, go for an unlocked one. We use the three 12gb sim from MY Memory

This type of thing. this is not the one we have.

Huawei E5577 Ultra-Fast 4G/LTE Unlocked 150 Mbps Portable Mobile Wi-Fi- Black (Genuine UK): Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories
I have the same mifi also from Amazon, it was to replace a Huawei E589 which is a 4G unit but only 100 Mbps and a single aerial socket, it was fast though, I will sell the E589 later on here but not yet, it could still be a good back up.

If you google sim sizes you can print a template, I have cut a sim down using this but out of desparation I cut a normal size sim card out of card and cut a nano size hole in it using the template, a bit of cellotape on the back to hold it in place and it worked until it ran out of credit

Tethering is your friend. Just Google how to tether your iPad without destroying the SIM. You basically make the iPad your dongle.

If you no longer have the frame but to make your SIM bigger, I have one which I could post to you pm if you want it! We use a huawei mifi too which will then send signal to laptop, iPad,phone...up to five devices I think.

Not all contracts allow tethering, some that allow it in the UK don't allow it in Europe

Thanks for that it looks like its the mifi way to go.

weve got an ee alcatel mifi
EE 4GEE Wifi Mini EE40VB Mobile 4G+ Broadband Access Point EE40VB-2AE8GB3 | eBay

its on an ee contract 10 quid a month for 4gb... mainly so i can use a laptop in the workshop and stores. i didnt have a smartphone at the time we got it

it ran two tablets in fuerteventura last month.

were seriously looking at ditching the landline completely in the spring. broadband is stupidly slow here, might mean forking out for a more expensive 4g router with extendable aerials to run the home/office network , possibly with a 3 data sim. depends on how much data we actually use.

We took the plunge and have never looked back since...not got the extendable aerial but ditching the landline was the best!! We away so much the mifi is great !! 50gb in blighty n 15 gb abroad. Actually, we near Almeria with mega site wifi and it streaming itv via mobdro seamlessly....

I bought a 10 inch tablet which has a wifi connection and a ph sim slot so i should be able to fit a data sim to get on net when away from my cave.

as my tablet was starting to play up ive recently bought a alldocube t12 10 inch tablet which has a sim slot. about 60 quid on fleabay, ive stuck in a 3 12 gb 12 month sim. it will also tether the lap tops and the wifes ipad. will use it for a while to test out the signal and how much data we actually use. we pay bt 3 monthly so end of feb is decision time, at the moment looks likely that bt will get the chop. will be a bit of hassle changing our business phone numbers but not insurmountable.

my mobile phone is on a plusnet 5 quid a month contract, both our phones are dual sim so we could have 2 business numbers and 2 personal for 20 pound a month with 200 minutes on each, far more texts than well ever use and a tiny bit of data all on ee.

also got the ee mifi on 4gb a month in case the 3 signal aint there.

If you are using ee then one penny mobile is cheaper and runs on ee network,£10 for 4 mts rollover and you can switch from data to text calls etc from there online home page.

only hassle with pyg is remembering to top up every 4 months.

we used to have orange , but found topping up online was a farce...if the orange website worked our natwest and tsb cards would be refused..... bank reckoned it was some anti fraud thing as scroats with stolen cards would put a small topup on a mobile to test the card worked....wed end up having to go to town to use the banks cash machine to top up the phone. i got so pissed off with it that i got the 5 pound monthly plusnet contract by direct debit even though it cost me more.
