Arrived at Stromness earlier today and already in love with Orkney. Poured a glass of red whilst contemplating various routes and islands to explore. I'm well prepared with maps, literature and Poi's but wondered if anyone has taken a low profile 7.4m Moho to Hoy, is it possible? We have bikes and a trailer for the dogs - don't laugh:) which we could use if taking the Moho isn't an option .

I wouldn't dare laugh, it's the only way to get the dogs home from the pub when they are legless

We took our 8m Hobby to Hoy from Houton whilst we were there for the orkney meet.

The ferry handles artic wagons and tractor / trailer combinations with no problems and cost us about £40, being over 65 took a bit off the full fare apparently. Lyness is very interesting with its WW2 installations and history. There is a complete Martello tower and the barracks Hackness and the Long Hope lifeboat to be seen. No problem with wilding anywhere on Hoy and a stay at Rackwick is not to be missed and it's about an hour and a half walk over to the Old Man of Hoy.

Don't miss out on Hoy if you're in Orkney because it is such a different type of island to the others and well worth a day or two.
