Hi

I've just bought a nozatec satnav and so far it's brilliant apart from one glitch. If I choose to find a postcode address which has no street name associated with it - common in rural areas..farms etc - I'm not able to set it as a destination, the street field is greyed out and if you input a number it crashes with an errror messsage. I'd be happy to see it highlighted on the map to select it that way, or any way it could be selected - come to that. Has anyone found a way around this? Any suggestions would be gratefully received, but I'm not flushed with optimism. :D

On mine, I put the postcode in the 'Town' field and have never had a problem.

Thanks for the replies. I have had no problems where the post code is associated with a street name. It only fails where there is no such association. Could anyone reading this please try and set the following as a destination and let me know how you get on. It's the postcode of a campsite on a farm in Cornwall. PL27 7JA. It's on an un-named road. Many thanks

I've been using the Nozatec for a while now and it has been great for me. As far as setting the destination is concerned, I have often just used the "find a point on map" option, or as hairydog has suggested use the map for fine tuning.

The only issue I have is that the maps need updating and the maps available for download on the vendor's site are not the latest ones (they're the same as I already have). I know I've seen it mentioned on this and other forums that more up to date ones are available, but despite an extensive search I've been unable to find them.
Can anybody here help with this?

post code anomaly contd..

"Please look in:

More / Help (light bulb) / About / More (at the bottom) / Content (cardboard box) / Maps

to see what version of the map data you have installed. That may be the problem."

Thanks for the advice and pardon my ignorance - On what page on the satnav will I find the 'More..' to follow that link?

Hi - I've been in touch with Bailun Best Sell from whom I bought my nozatec and they gave me this link which does lead to downloadable maps - dated April 2017 - Common map for GPS Navigators | Elite99 :drive:

senior moments

Are you sure? I tried downloading from that link and got 2015 maps

Sorry about that - You're right - they are definitely old maps - October 2015. I had just noticed the modified date, which of course is today. Curses. I saved the old files before 'updating' with these latest oldies and - ostensibly - they are from July 2016. Here's a link to a dropbox folder containing the three that came installed on my device, so you can download them from there - Dropbox - nozatec maps

They're not zipped unfortunately. If they're too big for you to download let me know and I'll have a crack at zipping them.

I've just emailed Bailun again to see what they have to say - I can't say I trust them to give accurate info, but - hey ho. :drive:

recent updates

Don't try to zip them. The files are already compressed. They will be slightly bigger, not smaller, if you zip them.

Those are Tomtom ones from March 2016

If anyone wants newer Here maps (my preference) please get in touch.

Thanks for the tips. I reinstalled the Tomtom ones. The device seems to be working ok, but I get a " Application iG08.exe encountered a serious error and must shut down" message now when I connect to the PC. I've done a factory reset but to no avail. I think this item may well be returning to seller shortly. :(

That error could be caused by corrupt maps. But the first thing to try is to reset the unit (using the little reset button and start again. You'll have to tell it where to find iGo but it may fix the problem. Well worth a go before sending it back.

Thanks again. By reset button I assume you mean the wee hole on the back. The reset didn't fix it. The plot has also thickened, in that it's now defaulting to France, and despite setting a journey from a uk address, with the route showing the correct itinerary, the 3d map has the centre of Paris on screen. I yield. It's going back tomorrow ;)

if you have google earth on your computer or tablet or phone, google the area and bottom right of the screen it should give you the coordinates as you move the icon on the map, find exactly where you wish to go and then put those coordinates in to your GPS, been using this method for a few years now, even when I travel abroad and want to see a place or an aire I google the area and then get the coordinates to the entrance, this system has never let me down:mad1::mad1::mad1::mad1::mad1::mad1::mad1:

You can also do this in Autoroute if you are working off-line.

That question would be easier to answer if the pages had names displayed! It is the Blue Jigsaw More... button, and is offically on a page called "Navigation Menu"

On the page you see when it first starts* - The page with a power button bottom left, Show Map at the top left and on the right you should see Find, My Route and More... This is the More you want, and it has a blue jigsaw piece icon.

*Alternatively, from the map page, tap the button at the bottom left to get to that page

I think we have different models. I found my way to the installed maps, but the buttons and route there are different. There is no 'More' button available anywhere. There is no .ftr map so I may well install it via the PC. After a few resets, on screen and also paperclip up the rear, the iGO8.exe error has ceased and after leaving it out for a while it has reset itself to the UK default and settled where I am. I can't thank you and the other contributors to this thread enough. It was within a hair's breadth of either death by blunt instrument or return to seller - in my saner moments. Thanks again. :drive:

Have a look at GPS Power Forum: tech support and help desk

There is a section for IGO Primo Software. The unit you have is based on Windows CE platform. The Alpine sat Nav I had was the same. Once I worked out how to hack into the Win CE software it was simple to update. GPs power has lots of contributors so you can always find the latest maps.

I have a Blaupunkt now which also uses IGO Software but the Android version. also have the software running on a Samsung Tablet.

Don't think the manufacturers of the device actually pay for the software they just install it .. Probably why their maps are so far out of date.

I'm running that to on an android head unit, I did have the live traffic working but now it seems to be reluctant to get the data, do you have it ?

I think you have to have the correct licence for it. Some units only give you a year. You can buy it from Navtech website but you should be able to find a forever licence on the site above. Bit of trial and error sometimes but you can find most things. It's free to join so you could always ask there are some real bright sparks on there. Took me a few downloads to get one that would work on a Samsung Tab. We are away for three months so fancied a backup just in case. Have also installed CoPilot from the same source.

If yours is a TRUE Android Head unit then I also managed to find an app that overlays the speed in very large numbers .. KPH ..

It's a Pumpkin chinese unit running Lollipop. I have a file of licences, which I need to copy over then, (wondered what they were for :D:D )

Licence file seems to work by just adding new licences. Do a search and just add anything that looks as though it will work. If you change the licence file you may find other bits don't work.

As with everything PC related make a BACKUP of the file first .....
